A Story of the Pirate Samuel Bellamy, Mariah Hallett, and the Whydah
This is a wonderful read! Though it is fiction, it is based heavily on history. It is a love story of sorts and a portrait of life on Cape Cod and seafarers of the early 1700's. The Salem Witch Trials were still fresh in the minds of the Colonials.
The author includes an appendix of factual events and a glossary. Also a bibliography and a list of places to visit. And a recipe for Ship's Biscuits! (reminds me of the dough "clay" we used to make in elementaty school - and in fact I believe it's the same stuff!! - imagine eating that - with mold and weevils!!)
It's a Romantic tale - and ultimately a very sad tale, but if you like historical fiction I recommend this book.

Hello amp! I was googling myself *blush* and found your review of my book Master of the Sweet Trade: A Story of the Pirate Samuel Bellamy, Mariah Hallett, And the Whydah. What a wild surprise!! Thanks so very much for your kind words!! How ever did you find out about the book?
I would love to add your review to my Web site: www.quillsandbrushes.com. Is it OK if I do that? Do I have to get permission from JDR owners?

Welcome to JDR Lizziefish! I'm Karen, the owner of JDR and the only permission you need is from AMP. Thanks so much for asking, we are always thrilled to have authors drop by!
Of course we'd love it if you referenced us, but it that isn't appropiate on your site, then that's fine. AMP is the one who recommended your book, she deserves the credit!
Ohhh I can't wait for Amazon to deliver it!

Ahoy, Lizzie! I live on Cape Cod and, would you believe, when I was in high school, Barry Clifford was a PE teacher there.
I am so grateful you fashioned such a wonderful story about our real life scurge of the Atlantic, "Black Sam" Bellamy and I read about your book in the Cape Cod Sunday Times. so naturally, I immediately requested it from the library. I think the book's strong point is your fictional/legendary Mariah Hallet. I was there in the stark devil's land right along with her.
I would be honored to have my humble review added to your website, Elizabeth! And perhaps you'll have Karen's review shortly.
