Hi all, late as usual here.
I totally agree with all you have said, it could be no other way than B & W.

The first time I watched Ed Wood (mind you I didn't really know anything about it, other than Johnny was in it) I wasn't sure what to think, wasn't even sure if I liked it. But as I talked more and more to a youngster aroung these here Johnny sites *cough Alfy* I somehow had the desire to watch it again. *I think she used subliminal messages on me LOL* Next thing you know, I watched it once a week for 5 weeks after the first viewing and each time I grew to love it more and more. That was over a year ago and my fondness hasn't subsided, I adore Ed. I was also fortunate enough to be able to see it on a big screen during Deppcon followed by the Q & A with the writers. It was so very interesting to hear their stories on how the movie came to be, including how Tim changed it to B & W. I think they said they weren't happy with the decision, that making it B & W killed it at the box office because people wouldn't go to see a B & W movie. But as we all seem to agree, I cannot imagine it any other way!

To me the line would make perfect sense if the movie was B&W or color. Most times I do not realize (or quickly forget) that I am watching a B&W... my imagination fills in the colors without any conscious thought. (My kids like to catch me off guard and ask what color a garment is.)

In reverse, I suppose a person who works with only B&W film would look at colors and see them as shades of gray.
