Ahh the nice fresh scent of Coppertone! LOL And does anyone remember the almondish smell of the old fashioned Jergens hand lotion? I had a teacher who used to use it, she kept a bottle on her desk.

Glad to see that y'all enjoyed this one!

Again, I'm behind in my posts and it looks like you all had such fun with this one. So many of your memories ring a bell for me: the white paste, I remember that ink on the paper at school maybe in grade 1 or so. I've often thought about that. Playdough was mentioned - that's one for me. When my daughter got some when she was 2, the first thing I did was open up the canister and smell it And Karen, I do remember that smell of Jergens. In fact, a few years back I had to go and buy Jergens just cause I remembered how it smelt.

JP - your cherised memory sounds wonderful. Keep it close to your heart. (I know you will).

I've been thinking and thinking for a different "smell" memory. There was a perfume that I wore in 1990/91 and I believe it was called "California" by Jacklyn Smith. My husband (we weren't married at the time) took me on a trip to California in May that year and when I wore the perfume afterwards, it always reminded me of our trip. If I smelt it today, that trip would come back to mind immediately. I tried for a number of years to find that perfume again but never could.

I started using the almond scented Jergens a couple years ago, just because the smell reminded me of when I was a kid. I get it at Walgreens, Karen. Original Scent, Cherry-Almond moisturizer. This discussion also reminded me that after my grandma died about 8 years ago, I started using Dove bath soap because that's what she used and in some strange way it makes me feel closer to her.

Okay...mine is goofy. Karen and Anne won't be too surprised...

Two scents that always get me. That mellow, spicy, smoky smell that always reminds me of Holloween. You get the mellow smell from the pumpkins, the spicy from the candles burning and the pine needles decayin, and the smoke from people's fireplaces.

The other is that stagnant water smell. I am instantly transported to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. I always take a big whiff as soon as we get inside the building. Everytime I smell it somewhere else, I take deep breaths and hear in my head, "Yo, ho, yo, ho a pirate's life for me."

What is it about this lotion??? When I went to find it a few years back, I had to open the tops of several Jergens bottles in order to find the one that smelt right. And when I did, I remember thinking "Cherry Almond". But that was it. Its funny how some of us remember similiar things.
