I was watching the animatics extras on National Treasure Collectors' Edition (2 discs) when I noticed that the temp music for the animatics of the earlier opening version of National Treasure I sounds exactly like music from scenes in POTC!

Music editors often put in temp music so the director can more easily imagine what the scene will feel like when the storyboarded scenes are filmed. That music is then replaced with permanent music. In this case, this opening scene animatic was mostly not used and they went with another opening scene for the actual film.

Cool to hear that wonderful musical theme from POTC though!

That IS cool! If I remember correctly, lol...they used the same music on the early trailers. Love that music still!
