When Hugo found the automaton, I was so happy! Not only was this so much of his father's life but it also gave Hugo a purpose, to fix it and read the message. I coudn't wait until he did and almost looked ahead to see what happened!
I also liked the part when Hugo and Isabelle snuck into the movie theater. For a short while, he was happy, without any cares or responsibilities, just like kids his age should be!

I think I liked the illustrations that showed Hugo fixing the wind up mouse for the old man. I was so proud that he was able to simply fix it...I like imagining the look on the old man's face.
Thanks Rose and Anne, I loved the automaton discovery too!

#1: Whole book is my favorite. When the toy booth many rescues hugo and is wearing the magician cape, rescuing hugo from the guards and jail.
#2: Whole book is my favorite. I kinda like it when Hugo looks out the clock tower and sees the town, imagining the whole town is like a robot.
#3: I liked linking the illustrations into the story. I liked it when Hugo first dragged the automatron out of the closet, and tries to fix it. Took a while to solve that mystery.

That was a great part...when he was rescued from the guards.
Hugo looking out of the clock is one of my favorites too, I can't wait to see this part in the movie.
It DID take a whle to solve that mystery didn't it?

Jumping into the discussion late. I really liked the way that the book had such a happy ending. Everyone needed each other. And every circumstance had to play out exactly as it did.
