How do you see that as changing history? Or would it?

Why?

As a walk thru event I think that it would not have had the "pirate" feel of being by the ocean with the water around....it would have changed the whole "piratey" feel of being a pirate.....it would have been more like a museum....glad that things happened when they did and that the ride was put on hold so that we ended up with what we got..it was well worth the wait....

I toured a local pirate museum last summer, and though I think the Disney one would have been a bit more exciting, it was nothing special, really, and a walk-through wax pirate museum wouldn't have had a storyline and wouldn't have become the phenomenon is today or have inspired a major motion picture.

Well, it would have had a storyline, but not as elaborate as it was able to be when they changed where the attraction would physically be. But I agree it would never have become the phenomenon that still delights children of all ages.

Small world was supposed to be the same way, initially, for the World's Fair, but they found it would be more efficient to get people through in boats. Same thing with Pirates. After the fair, Walt decided to move the Pirates showbuilding outside the berm.

It surely adds to the feel of being engulfed in the world of pirates, being right out there "on the sea" with them.
