NOT! The Grand Budapest Hotel updates

It sure did get the Budapest Hotel a LOT OF PUBLICITY, didn't it??? Bill Murray signing on sure isn't news for a Wes Anderson project.


I know a lot of people don't like Deadline, but why would someone risk their reputation for accuracy within the industry. Like ithe publication or not, Deadline is very accurate in what they report. They had reason to believe it was correct.

I don't remember reading that in conjunction with Johnny, but I could be wrong. Shoot DIsney announced several projects for him just last year...Night Stalker...for one...

exactly. I hate to be a downer,but besides my own interest in the roIes Johnny used to take,I 'm tired of people (on the internet) bashing him for everything recently(professional and personal).so I was hoping this low-key promising project would help turn the tables a little bit.
the schedule Johnny has at the moment is not his 'usual',so I'm a bit worried what he's gonna do and how much he's affected by recent events,hope he makes the best decision.

Karen I tend to agree with you about Deadline--they're not a gossip site & their info has been correct in the past. I still believe something happened that caused Johnny to pull out(of course that is my educated guess).

As for him taking time off due to overexposure, yes, that was a tabloid report. If he is taking time off it's to either do something else professionally he would rather do, or he needs some R&R to get his personal life in order. WAnderson just might be saving face if negotiations fell through---at least he said he would like to work with Johnny someday. He may want to do some promo for No Good Reason as well as finish up the KRichards doc(Keith isn't getting any younger), or, he wants to spend more time working on his musical side, or, he just wants to spend time with those close to him.

Karen's right, we just don't know at this point.

It's disappointing for us fans he is not in the Grand Budapest Hotel. I'm sure Johnny has things lined up already that we don't know about, a well deserved break for starters I hope.

You never know Johnny might do the unexpected and take Marlon Brando's advice. Take time out to study Shakespeare and do Hamlet in a play before he's too old. Johnny has been considering this for some years and since he's nearing 50 maybe now the time is right?

The only person who knows what Johnny even might do next is Johnny. LOL And he hasn't registered here yet.

So, now we wait, and hope he's going to have some fun!

Deadline is reporting that Ralph Fienes has replaced Johnny in this film----that's IF Johnny was even involved in the first place

Thanks for the update Donna! I still am so disappointed that he's not involved in this one.

I wouldn't say Johnny is over exposed as Russell Crow has made 6 films this year. Pffft ! Now that's over exposed.

Since Johnny's not involved in this project, I think it's time to close the thread. THanks to all for their thoughts and input!
