I'm not too sure I'll read the sequels. It's not that I didn't like the book, it's that there are so many other books I would like to read that are more up my alley. I'll definitely see the movie, should it ever get made! I sure hope the powers that be consider my casting suggestions!

I'm enjoying the reading selections related to Johnny Depp and/or his Production Company. I'm not sure, but is there a trend toward books that write details about what charachters are thinking ?
They are interesting books, that's for sure. Not what I would normally read. That said, I would prefer to read other Depp/ IN related books, and don't think I will be reading the sequel to this, but will watch the movie , because it has some interesting twisted food for thought.

I'd love to know what attracts Johnny to the projects and books that he options.
I enjoyed this and will read the sequels but I understand why others won't. I really like the "steam punk" genre and enjoyed some of it just because it was different. lol

I'm just catching up with the discussion.. I probably won't read sequels for mainly the same reason that there are so many other books on the list...I did enjoy most of this book. It did fall on my bare foot once, so maybe it helped me burn some karma...who knows

I liked the book overall because the story was so "different" which intrigued me. Having said that, I thought it a little "long" in parts. I'll probably give at least the next sequel a shot to see where Dahlquist is going with the characters. However,I'll be reading other books as well. Hey, I never thought I'd read any Tom Robbins' books, but actually got a kick out of Fieerce Invalids-lol! At least Johnny has opened my eyes to authors/books that I probably wouldn't pick up on my own. I also never thought I'd read graphic novels either, but I really enjoyed the Rex Mundi books and Caliber as well. So, at my age, it feels good to "step out of the box" a bit now and then.

Yes, I liked the book. The first 20 or so pages I wasn't too sure but in the end I truly enjoyed it. I have the sequel on pre-order and looking forward to where the characters go from here.
Until I started in on the 'book list' here at JDR I pretty much read the same type books. It has been a fun ride, so far, on this literary trail. There's only been one book, The Ginger Man, that I just didn't care for but I read it to the end. To be far, it was probably just me and trying to read it during holidays and holiday cooking! There have probably been only a handful of books in my entire life that I didn't finish and I thought Ginger Man was going to be one.
Any who...thank you Johnny and JDR for the interesting stories you've lead me too! You just never know what the next book on the list will lead you...
