This article was shared with us here by Shadowdog in another thread and I wanted to be sure that everyone could read the updates from Palmdale. And there are some other interesting things in the article too so be sure to read it all.

I have to say that I am thrilled that the Disney publicist confirms what we said about the Pirate Kingdom filming not being shot at Palmdale, we said Burbank back then in our reports the week they were filming. Here are just a couple of our posts..

Report from Burbank 9/8
And they deny the Keith drinking at Palmdale rumor.

We posted this on 9/08/06 6:43 AM

This info was suppied to JDR please don't repost, to share please post a link bringing them here, thanks

Got this report in overnight, from Burbank soundstages..

Lee Arenberg (Pintel) was seen today (Thur 9/7) at the lot.

The filming area has been made very secure, they have been closed off for the last few weeks. Even before Keith started filming as even the area away from the street is blocked.

Security is high

---------------------------------------------------------------------
And, last but not least, they also mention a Johnny Depp fansite talking last week about the problem with the ship at Palmdale. Gee we reported that. Tues 9/19 Filming update..we posted this: 9/19/06 at 04:09 PM

Things in Palmdale are a bit crazed and things have been changing faster than I can get the changes posted. groan As of right now the core pirates and Asian pirates won't be used for 2 -3 weeks.

The ship seems to be stuck at a 30% angle and not ready to go. Background problems still need to be worked out.

EITC, World pirates and Asian pirates who have been fitted but only used once or not at all should shoot and will be notified.

Things changing by the moment...more coming....

Here's the link and the article that talks about all of this! Thanks Shadowdog!

Avast! Watch for 'Pirates' stars
Third movie in hit series sets up filming at location in Palmdale
This story appeared in the Antelope Valley Press on Tuesday, September 26, 2006.

By LAVENDER VROMAN Showcase Assistant Editor

PALMDALE - "Pirates" fans might want to keep a weather eye open for Johnny Depp and other stars of their favorite swashbuckling adventure flick.

Filming of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," the third installment of Disney's hit franchise, has relocated to Site 9 in Palmdale from Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, unit publicist Michael Singer confirmed Monday.

Contrary to media reports that circulated over the weekend, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards did not make a slightly tipsy cameo appearance as Capt. Jack Sparrow's father at the former aircraft production hangar at 30th Street East and Avenue P. Filming of Richards' scenes with Depp took place elsewhere, Singer said.

The publicist would not confirm if Depp and co-stars Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley were on location in Palmdale. According to earlier reports, the three were slated to be at Site 9 in September to film the remainder of "At World's End."

Singer refused to provide any other details about the shoot, including how long the production is scheduled to remain at Site 9. Disney has rented Hangar 703 from Los Angeles World Airports through at least November.

In contrast to last month's filming in Palos Verdes, during which Johnny Depp often would emerge from his trailer to greet fans and sign autographs, the cast and crew of the movie are keeping a low profile in Palmdale.

Small yellow signs reading "P2/3" could be seen Monday afternoon at the intersection of Avenue P and 30th Street East. The parking lot at Site 9 was moderately full of cars, trailers and equipment trucks, but a patrolling security vehicle provided the only stirring of life outside the facility's gates.

Internet postings on a Johnny Depp fan site last week suggested the production crew for "At World's End" might be experiencing technical difficulties with one of the massive pirate ship replicas housed in Hangar 703.

A recording dated Sept. 21 on the official phone hotline of Sande Alessi Casting - the Los Angeles-based company in charge of recruiting extras for "At World's End" - indicated the movie's filming schedule is in constant flux.

"It literally changes minute by minute," the recording said. "I'm at the point where if they're not gonna pay to put you guys on hold, then you should accept other work. We don't want anyone sitting at home waiting on 'Pirates of the Caribbean 3.' "

"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" is slated for release in the spring. The previous "Pirates" flick, "Dead Man's Chest," recently passed the $1 billion mark in worldwide box office receipts, making it the third highest grossing film of all time.
