Those who went down last night keep us posted! I know I'm considering going down tonight and there's a group from WI planning on coming down tomarrow. Any info about whether or not it's worth it would be fabulous!

I've heard that security is very tight and access is very limited.

Anyone get to see or meet him last night?

I will be sad when filming is over. :( I love coming here and reading the reports.

Ok... so we went.... =( We probably shouldn't have... I read all the info on it but had to try anyway... I was hoping at least that base camp was far enough away from the prison... but nope, it was on the prison grounds, it was a long drive and we could drive past the prison and see where base camp was set up... but nope... couldn't see a darn thing. =( Oh well... hopefully they'll be back in Chicago or somewhere easier to see them again soon. It was worth a shot.

He he.. that's me... funny! DO NOT go... you can't see a THING! It was WAY to long of a drive from Milwaukee for nothing... had to try but dissapointing. Not sure if Wed at Joliet prison will be better, at least that is not an active prison so we should be able to get closer but they may have base camp inside the walls again... ?? I hope they go back to Chicago! :(

Well, we are back from Joliet and Crest Hill. We got there yesterday about 11:00 due to missing the Chicago back up on the interstate. Joliet prison (closed) was still quiet and nothing was happening at all. We got directions to Crest Hill (the bridge on Rt7 is out by the way so use the detour) where the Statesville prison is and it too was rather quiet. It is an active prison with prisoners but on a country road with no shoulder or intersections, etc - no place to park or wait. We saw some prison security trucks but that's all. So we decided to take the beautiful day and head to Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis - 4 hours away. BTW the cemetery folks are very, very nice and were kind enough to provide a map with directions to the gravesite of John Dillinger. They obviously know all about the movie and have a lot of visitors.
Anyway, we decided to head back north and stop at Joliet to see if anything was going on. We got off track and ended up back at Crest Hill - accident? maybe not. As we were passing, my friend saw an antique car and spotted some Universal trucks on the grounds in the back. We reconoitered the area and found where they stash the cars off hours. I chatted someone who said they'd be there for a few days and probably later at Joliet.

Hi guys ! I am a new member out here in the suburbs of Chicago. I just wanted to fill you in on what I know about the prisons out here. I have 2 friends who have been working as extras in Stateville since yesterday at 4:00am. From what they tell me it is very tight security with no one being allowed in or out. I live pretty close to Stateville and it is pretty hard to access being on a farm road without any parking. There are also alot of roads that are closed in the area by the prison due to constuction. If I hear anything else from my friends inside the prison I will be sure to pass along the information. Good luck to those out there traveling.

Thanks! I am so excited for them too. I have another friend who was called to play an extra as a homeless person on the set, but I can't get ahold of him to find out at what location. I will post as soon as I do. This is a great site. It's nice to see people sharing with each other!

Yes, I'd heard that they left Statesville too, that is the only reason I'm considering going... I wouldn't try that again, couldn't get near the place but I'm hoping Joliet Prison won't be as hard since the prison is closed... but we'll see what I hear from people going there this afternoon.

Lockport is about 5 miles north of Joliet and about 35 miles southeast of Chicago.

I am sorry, I am confused regarding JD filming or not. Did he come back to film on Monday, or Tues ? If so has anyone seen him or just heard he was there ?

That's what's been reported, thanks Donna! Stateville and now Lockport.

Someone on the Zone reported that Lockport was cancelled today due to a delay in filming at Joliet. Whatever they were going to film needed to be in daylight and they got through at Joliet too late. It's not clear whether the Lockport scene will be cancelled or re-scheduled. For anyone close by, it might be worth a peek tomorrow just in case!

Edit: rumors also suggest that they'll be filming at Union Station tomorrow. :blink:

Ok I am just curious~w/ all the delays that have been happening as well as problems w/ weather ect. does n't this cost the studio extra $$? I mean if the filming goes on beyond the alloted time?

Yes it can.

I've *heard* that they are over budget. But it's nothing that I can prove...so take it for what it is. Something I heard.

Whew what a day! I'm still trying to clear the fog from the brain from yesterday's, oh what shall I call it? hunt and tracking. The rare sighting of a Depp still eluded us although we did everything we should have done. We were tenatious to say the least and still..... we did not see him. My friend was quite disappointed to say the least.
We didn't know exactly where they were supposed to be filming yesterday but good ol' JDR had the fast track again and we got down to Joliet prison about 10:30 and found a few people parking across the street so we joined them and spent a hot, sunny but interesting day shooting the breeze while we waited. Some had some encounters with security and police just reminding everyone to stay off the DOC grounds. Most of the security folks were kind and gave us tidbits of news that we were in the best place to possibly meet our guy. They were rumored to be shooting in 5 locations throughout the area (different units at different places). It was confirmed JD was at the prison and filming (we heard the blanks going off at different intervals) and then told "no, he's not". Later, about 4:00 or so the Lockport filming was setting up and some folks went down to see what they could see. Reporting back after sundown (8:00) that location filming was cancelled due to the sun not being in the right place by then. There were rumors the filming was scrapped altogether or maybe the next day. ?? Then we were told filming was being done at Cass St and that JD was there. We had seen his SUV a few times driving back and forth throughout the day, but no waves or any sightings. We hung in there until they said the trailers had been moved out. So, finally we gave up the carpark and went to Cass St. Sure enough they were filming, but it was very dark and you couldn't really see much of anything or anyone.... except Jerry. We were finally moved us to the opposite side of the street where we could see even less. However, we were hopefully for at least a drive by and a wave. Alas, shooting was wrapped at midnight and JD was spirited away in the opposite direction. We headed home and finally arrived at 3:00 am this morning. I'm still nursing one of many cups of coffee today. One of our new friends from the Joliet area called and is going to check out the Lockport location this morning and let us know.

Needless to say, we are tired, sunburnt and disappointed. However, we still believe it will happen, hopefully before the week is out and my friend has to return to Ohio.
Thanks to JDR and all the folks who have given the best updates around!! You are amazing. Thanks also to the lovely folks we had a chance to meet and get to know, all savoring the possibility of a Depp meeting. You are fantastic and I hope to keep in touch with you and see you again. Good luck!
