Sounds like Mr. Burrough was given the "whitewalls" hair treatment, too!

Woo Hoo Bryan! woohoo
And what an awesome scene to actually be part of!
That would have probably given me goosebumps too!
:thanks for posting this Rose!

Thank you, Rose! Eagerly waiting for part two.

Christine M - June 5, 2008 12:28 AM (GMT)
It's great that MM invited Mr. Burrough to be part of the movie, especially since the movie is based on his book. woohoo

I too am anxious to read part two!!

off note ~
I must say though, seeing a title that says, "Watching Johnny Depp die," kind of sets me back and makes me sad. I have to remind myself it's about the movie and Johnny playing Dillinger. :)

Yes, that was hard for me to read that, too. Congrats to Bryan---what an opportunity and as others have said, what a great scene to witness and be a part of the action. Hate that he left us hanging though---but can't wait for the rest! :)

Thanks for the link..

Don't be, he just talks about being on set... it's GREAT! :snoopy

SavvyGurl - June 5, 2008 03:23 AM (GMT)
That really was nice of Michael Mann to invite him not only to watch, but to be in the scene! I can feel the excitement in his writing. I think he is as excited about this as we are when we get a greeting from Johnny!

P.S. I wish he would have given a different title to that article too.

He may not have titled it, often time there are different people who write the titles.

Great article...but he left us all on a cliff, eh? Now, what to do until the rest of it comes out? Bet he had a blast and there's nothing wrong with being a fanboy or girl  Did I say how I hate cliffhangers? :P

How cool is that? With the photos that are running everywhere about the filming at the Biograph, it's fun to get the background comments as well, and not at all least by the author himself.

Way to go Mr. B!

Holly woohoo

Thank you, HMR!

(Don't worry :teamdepp --the headline is much more palatable today!)

One of my favorite bits:

"As clichéd as it sounds, it was as if I was really there that hot night in 1934."

These words gave me goosebumps; what an experience that must have been for BB---to see history (and his words) come to life in that alley.

Hmmm....I wonder if Mr. Burrough signed a book for Johnny....

This is really fascinating! I'm very happy for Mr. Burrough - he makes the whole story of his activities on the set seem so immediate, putting you right there in the action with him.

Anxiously awaiting Part 3!

TeacherCol - June 6, 2008 12:07 AM (GMT)
WOW... how awesome for BB to be part of the filming! What a really wonderful thing for MM to do for him! I cannot wait to read the entire story!!!! woohoo

Rose Sparrow - June 6, 2008 01:02 AM (GMT)
Loved his comment about 'watching hundreds of people making his book come to life'!
What a thrill this must have been for him! I'm so happy that he got the opportunity! :snoopy

I'll have to keep a weather eye out for him during my many viewings next year!

Karen - June 6, 2008 01:10 AM (GMT)

Thanks for the link HMR. :thumbsup

I am so thrilled for Mr Burrough, he must be just over the moon to see his book getting such great treatment, as well as being in the movie. His article was lovely to read.

All three parts of this have been amazing, thanks so much.
Glad he got to meet Johnny and other cast members, what a great experience.
Thanks for sharing

depplyinluv - June 9, 2008 09:57 PM (GMT)
I cannot wait for this movie after reading all of this. But I'm afraid it will be very hard knowing that in the end JD, as JD, will be gunned down. Just like I know that the Titanic will always sink in the end and I wish the end would change but I know it won't, Johnny (John) dying will be very hard to watch. Sweeney was bad enough, but I'm afraid this will be worse, especially knowing it's a true story. But at least I have a whole year to get used to the idea.

Thanks for these three articles.

Thanks thanks HMR for posting the final link!

So proud for Bryan that he was able to see the first scene in the movie and that he was able to meet Johnny!

And he's written about it so eloquently, I am just again, moved to tears.

Thank you Bryan!

Thanks for posting that, HMR. I love how Christian Bale kidded him about Purvis!
