:angry: That's just wrong. They are lovely, but that's awful that their work has been pirated.

I sent JP an email...selling the pictures was his choice, but I hate to see him get burnt like that.

They are really awesome photos. Too bad the watermark has been removed and JP isn't receiving the credit due to him. :(

And here's another thought... I wonder who the parent company of the website is? If it's the same parent company of the National Enquirer then they may be the owners of the pics. :unsure:

I wonder if they'll ask him to stop selling clothing with the photos on them. Celebrities have a right of publicity regarding commercial uses of their images.

Yes,--on the j^p website that Osh gave, they have a Tshirt with one of Johnny's pics on it........

Gah, I don't know about that either. There is a lot I don't know the legal ins and outs of. Evan wanted me to buy him one of the shirts too... :( I know shirts were also sold in Columbus as well as in Oshkosh...

Osh, were the tshirts sold with Johnny's photo on them? If so, I would think this is an issue, but not sure. :unsure:

Osh, thanks for answering my question. I'm sorry, but I don't agree with the photos being sold to NE or Johnny's picture sold in any way for profit without his okay. Others may disagree with me, and that is okay, it's just how I feel.

Christine, I understand how you feel and I do agree. I didn't know that he sold this pictures until a few days ago. Poor judgement maybe? Making a quick buck? Whatever his reasons he didn't share them with me...I just "know" JP from a message board and living in the same community. He does a lot with the youth in our area...I can't condemn him for one bad action, you know what I mean?

Osh, I do understand and in no way consider you a part of what JP did. I mean it was his choice for whatever reason and he is the one that will have to deal with the good and/or the bad of it.

I think I will just stay mum in the future. I do like the company and hanging out with the bunch in person. I really believe these are good people. I dunno. :unsure:

It could also be that he's just not aware of the issue of actor's having the rights to their photos being used to sell merchandise. Osh, if you have contact with him, you could ask him if he's aware of that fact. The only one I question is the 2nd tshirt on the site where Johnny as Dillinger is by the car with the gun. As far as selling the other pics, it just depends on Universal. Again, he may be totatlly unaware of the issues involved.......

It's a sticky situation. :huh: Donna's right in that lots of the time people just aren't aware of copyright. Those could very well be copyrighted images and likenesses that are owned and licensed by Universal. I'm no copyright lawyer and I don't play one on TV :lol: so I sure don't know one way or the other, but ya have to wonder if Universal would be happy knowing that anyone was profitting from what could be their copyrighted images?

I know first hand that Disney/Buena Vista was not happy when we ran a pic from an unreleased POTC film. They very nicely, but firmly, asked that I remove their embargoed images immediately. Needless to say I did. asap ;)

Not to offend but that is why I don't like seeing people selling their photos. UHHHH! I guess perhaps it is just because I have gained much more than profit could ever give me out of this experience. But some folks see dollar signs and that is cool too because that what makes some people happy. It seems from what I have read about this that was a motivating factor from the beginning. But again I could be wrong or confused on the issue but I believe he was going to donate some money to the Columbus auditorium and keep the rest for himself at one time. I believe because people didn't like the percentages the idea was shot down. Again, I hope I'm not mistaking him for someone else.

I just don't think pics should be sold and that is my story and I'm sticking to it :)

Thanks everyone for chiming in with their thoughts and feelings, I think it's great that we've been able to share all of this with each other here. But I think we've about said all that we can. ;) Bottom line? The pics ARE gorgeous and I was happy to be able to enjoy seeing them. woohoo
