 I'm with you guys. Hope this doesn't go forward. Jump Street was a one time deal to me. It would be like trying to go back and relive your childhood.
I vote 'thumbs down'

You are right about that.
I agree with the rest of you on this. It's rather disheartening that it's even out there.

Glad to see that it appears we have an accord.

This is from the May 23 issue of EW. Mods, you can move this if it needs to be in a different place.

I think it's a bit tongue in cheek regarding the Depp-lookalike role.
If they do a film of this, Johnny has been quoted as jokingly saying he would appear as a much older person. It would be nice closure in a way for the other featured actors from the show to work with him again. They could see how professional and generous he would be with them now that he has adjusted to the demands of fame and notoriety.

Here's an MTV interview with Hill about the movie:
http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1587656/story.jhtmlMy take: yes it will be a comedy. No, it won't be a true remake of 'our' 21JS and that's just fine. The premise wouldn't play today as a straight drama. I really dislike stupid comedies like Superbad but I'm not the target audience. I wouldn't have bothered with the tv show either if Johnny hadn't been in it. I don't see anything wrong with a reworking. We're not talking about the greatest of Johnny's efforts here. I'd be upset with a new version of Edward Scissorhands, a true classic and a gem of a film, but they're free to do whatever they want with 21JS. Johnny hated working on it and I see no reason why we should guard its legacy as some treasure. That said, I hope Johnny steers well clear of it even though he'd probably like a slapstick version more than the original.

Comedy or not, I really don't want to see this one done. LOL But then I don't get a vote.

I'm not a fan of Apatow or Hill, so I just wouldn't care for a remake and it sounds like it could be more of a parody. I'm hoping Johnny won't have any part in it, but you never know!---You're right, I'm sure I'm not the target audience, too-lol!

Hi everyone,
There's an article in today's UK Daily Telegraph with this guy Jonah Hill, about 21 Jump Street. Bad news I'm afraid in it he says he is DEFINATELY writing and producing a comedy movie version of 21 Jump Street for Sony. He says it will be nothing but an out an out comedy. He also said that that he IS writing into it a special cameo role for Johnny. Well Isuppose that is to be expected to leave him out well it's just not possible. Although whether Johnny will even consider it I hope is questionable.
Edited for proper punctuation, capitalization and text abbreviations.

I loved the original. It was a great time in my life and I hate the idea of someone taking the mickey out of it. But hands up those who hate the idea but will go see it if Johnny does make a cameo appearance. My hand is up, as much as I would hate it I can't say no to anything Johnny is in, you can call me a middle aged fangurl if you like.

Sorry, I'm a hands down on this one. LOL And also on the Gilliam thing where Johnny fills in for the late Heath Ledger. Nope. Won't see them. I'm a fan, but I hope everyone else enjoys them! :thumbsup

I guess I'm in the "won't go see it group" either--don't like Jonah Hill and that kind of humor. I'm hoping Johnny's cameo in the Parnassus film ends up on the net somewhere as I won't see that one either. Just my opinion, I know there will be those that want to see both films.

I'm glad I am not alone in not feeling this adaptation of Jump Street. I will stick to watching my DVD's of seasons 1-4 rather than go and see this.

Beanie,
I agree, I don't like this version of Jump Street but I can not "not see" anything Johnny does.
I think that is why they want him in the movie. they are using him to sell tickets.
I hope Johnny will judge the roll in Jump Street as he does his films.
And if he decides that this film of Jump Street is something he wants to do, then I will support it and go see it to see what he does in it. However if Johnny chooses to not be in Jump Street I will not go at all.
