The National Portrait Gallery tells the stories of America through the individuals who have shaped its culture. Through the visual arts, performing arts and new media, the Portrait Gallery portrays poets and presidents, visionaries and villains, actors and activists who speak American history.

Thanks, Karen. Excellent choice by the NPG. The Captain's in pretty good company there---Chaplin, Keaton, Nicholson, Dylan, Hendrix.....

Go ahead and zoomify him for a better look!

Love the link. All the posters are awesome. My mother had a painting in the "painting's" gallery years ago titled "unknown artist" however she was too shy and never let them know it was painted by her. Go figure. Oh well at least she knew it was hers. My sister collected posters from the 60's (she was a true hippy then) I wish I had kept them. I remember the Jefferson Airplane poster :crybaby and alot of war protest posters. Boy they would be so great to still have. But alas what is gone is gone. Need to make plans to go to Washington and see all these beautiful posters. If time off work allows. Sandra

Is it too late for you to get the credit for your Mom's painting?
