Title: so, what happens when PE stops filming?

Osh - May 2, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
Where do we go from there?

Christine M - May 2, 2008 03:07 AM (GMT)
Review the videos from PE over and over again!! woohoo

Osh - May 2, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
Okay, that is a good plan. Being a newbie here, I don't now the procedure.

Karen - May 2, 2008 03:12 AM (GMT)
I guess we go back to what we were doing before the filming started. We discuss books, and movies and what's up next for him. Johnny never lets us rest too long! We have all this information here that we've assembled over four years and we'll go on adding to it. Finding more things to be excited about, new projects to anticipate and then come fall and winter word about screenings and trailers will start to come out, winter film festivals may get screenings, I think the SuperBowl would be a good spot for the first teaser. Then the big question will be when the first trailer will be seen. There will be lots of press in the spring, building up to the highly anticipated summer movies (like we've been having now for this year's summer movies) and then more screenings (JDR was lucky in getting about 10 people into the Universal lot, and into Spielberg's Amblin Theater for the first screening of Sweeney Todd last year. Now THAT was exciting!) and then come June finally the premiere and the opening weekend in July!

So, there's lots to look forward to really! A whole year of excitement for here us together!! woohoo

It's amazing how the time will fly! It will be nice to have another book discussion once the PE filming wraps. Can't wait for the trailers, etc. :)

Wow Karen, that is amazing! Can I ask if you do JDR all on your own? Did this start out as a hobby and then just grow?

And I love the book club. Thank you again for making such a great forum for so many people to connect.

Christine M - May 2, 2008 03:22 AM (GMT)
Oh my gosh Karen, just reading all that made my heart beat harder and harder. The anticipation!! I think it's going to be a very exciting time here at JDR in the months to come. It's exciting to be a part of it all. :snoopy

Osh, I do JDR by myself, sorta, but not really. ;) I have a great group of women who act as moderators here and I truely could not do JDR without them. Really. Some are more active than others, some help in different ways with different talents and gifts that they bring. We are from the US, the UK and Japan.

I started JDR on a small yahoo group about 4 years ago so that we could discuss the books of Johnny's that had been made into movies or were books that he had mentioned reading and liking. We had 34 members. THis is our third "server" and each time we change servers it's to upgrade and bring us more options, bells and whistles.

This still is my hobby and strictly a labor of love. I make no money here and take no money. My family and friends have learned that this is as much a part of my life as their golf, football, quilting, tennis and antique collecting.

Some day I'll go into how I decided to form a site about this amazingly talented man and how he unknowingly helped me get through one of the two most difficult periods of my life. JDR really is an act of love and way of repaying a debt of sorts to him. It's a pay it forward kind of deal and also a pay it back kind of deal too.

Thanks for asking.

Osh - May 2, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
Karen, your response made me tear up. I can honestly say this board, JD, Public Enemies, you and your kind words have helped me so much in such a short period of time.

I am so grateful and thank each and every one of you here for making this a forum that really feels like the favorite room in my house.

I never knew anything like this type of community existed. Please let me know if there is anything I can ever do to help pay it forward with you.

Karen - May 2, 2008 03:56 AM (GMT)
Thanks Osh, but I never wanted to make anyone tear up. Maybe I better not tell you about why I do this. LOL

I think the pay it forward part is just trying to treat others with kindness and respect. Some days I do better than others.

Kindness and respect. Those are important things.

And one reason we have JDR today.

Good tears!

SavvyGurl - May 2, 2008 05:42 AM (GMT)
Karen, you do an amazing job with this website! :thumbsup Thanks for the insight on how it all began. I hope you do share more on why you do it. My question to you is...do you ever sleep?!

Now, let's see--what happens when PE stops filming? Well, for me, I hope things will be a little less stressful since I won't be trying to guess when and where the filming will take place. I'm also hoping I will get more sleep as it may be a little easier to turn off my computer at night. Right now, I keep checking back to see if there are anymore updates on the filming and it is really hard for me to hit that "Turn Off Computer" button. :) But, I'm loving every minute of it!

Hi Karen - thank you for telling us how this site began. I noticed you said that JD unknowingly got you through some difficult times. Well, I also can relate to that. My husband passed away in 2006 and JD's films have kept me sane and helped me to cope with each day. I have collected 30 of his films and think he is the most talented man in the industry. He has missed out on Oscars which he truly deserved.

I hope that after PE he will maybe start on Shantaram. Sweeney Todd is released here in Australia on the 4th June.

Thanks Karen, so glad you did it. I'll be anticipating your story. (yes I got a little teary eyed too) My own story is so recent, hopefully I'll get a chance to pay it forward in my own way one day...

kindness and respect...
yes, that's evident here

great day Karen and all, can't wait to see what's ahead :snoopy

I got a bit teary eyed reading that too. It's amazing how one person can change so many lives and bring people together from all over. Thank you for starting this place, its a great place :thanks I've never been to a board where I've felt welcome from the start and I look forward to whatever comes next :)

Karen, that is such a great story. Seriously, this site is the best and the positive energy and wonderful people make this site a must read everyday. I have always been leary of message boards and communities but after being here I feel as if I have found a "home".

The whole "PE" experience to me, has been wonderful in so many ways. I think the biggest impact on my life will always be the wonderful people that I have been so blessed to have enter my life, both here in Wisconsin and at JDR. This whole experience came at a point in my life when I was really doubting humanity and if there really were any decent people in the world. I am glad that everything I felt was wrong and that whenever I have a bad day, I can come here to JDR and be among my new friends and smile. So, thank you to all of you.

As far as what we are going to do once Public Enemies is done here in Wisconsin... well, like Karen said, we will have exciting things to look forward to on here. I am hoping to have time to do some scrapbooking and writing of all the events, and keeping in touch with my new gal pals.

Again, thank you to all for being such a great group of people. Cheer to everyone :)

Big ol' group hug!

Thanks everyone for saying such nice things! I think we have a great community too.

Rachel, What you have said about :jdr and the members is so true. I was just reading the post from you, Karen and others and it gives me chills (good chills) because I also had the "dark days" that were consuming my life. Much too dark to burden anyone with the details. I will say it was the discovery of unbelievable evil within my family circle and tragedy on more than one occasion. But just as you all have mentioned it was reading all the posts here at JDR that brought me out of my dark world and reminded me that there are people that are kind, giving, respectful and just alot of fun. I have found when I start to get pulled back down into darkness I can log on and smile while reading all the wonderful things everyone has to say. I wish I knew what gift Johnny has for reaching people he has never met and giving them hope. It may be that he so "REAL" and not consumed by his celebrity. What ever it is, he is a force that touches us all in wonderful ways. And for that I thank him for leading me to all of you here. I hope to be here for a very long time. OH BOY!! sorry for gushing on so much, but it feels good to gush now and then. :D
Wishing everyone a great weekend, Sandra (sandluvsjd)

Oh, you are all so wonderful woohoo !! In fact this is the first time I was able to say those things out loud (or by writing). But just reading all the great things everyone here talks about makes me feel so warm and welcome in a way I have denied myself for such a long time. I may have had my spirits broken in the past but NOT anymore. I am going to keep the faith about the kindness of others and not be burdened by the wickedness of a small few. I have lost so many years being afraid to embrace all the love and caring others have to give. So on that note, I so look forward to chatting about "our guy" and watching all the great things he does. And getting to know all my new found friends here at :jdr :thanks so very much.
Health and Happiness to All !! Sandra
