I am looking for the discussion on the documentary tribute to Hunter S. Thompson. I did a search and was unable to find it. I recently viewed the tribute through Netflix and wanted to comment here about it.

Can someone please direct me to where I can find it on JDR? :thanks

Christine M, there are several threads about that doc in this forum
http://johnnydeppreads.com/index.php?showf...last_post&st=15

However, they are all quite old, so please feel free to start a new discussion. I just did a quick search and feel pretty sure that there have been other threads started. But please start one or have this thread be your discussion.

Not about Johnny but very interesting article regarding the music in this project. Now I just need to go and look up what a cavaquinho is!

carpediem, thanks for posting the link to the HST music tribute. Here is the definition for cavaquinho ~

The cavaquinho (pron. /ka.va.'ki.ɲu/ in Portuguese) is a small string instrument of the European guitar family with four wire or gut strings. It is also called machimbo, machim, machete (in the Portuguese Atlantic islands and Brazil), manchete or marchete, braguinha or braguinho, OR cavaco.

The most common tuning is D-G-B-D (from lower to higher pitches); other tunings include G-G-B-D and A-A-C#-E. Guitarists often use D-G-B-E tuning to emulate the last four strings of the guitar.

I really enjoyed seeing the documentary of "Buy the ticket, Take the ride. I wasn't aware that it was out there until after I joined Netflix and was trying to find JD movies to download immediately. I couldn't download this particular DVD immediately, but it was the first DVD I requested from Netflix.

The documentary showed me what an interesting man HST was. I can understand why Johnny felt so highly of him and why he was determined to make Mr. Thompson's canon request come to be. From a writing prespective, I found Mr. Thompson as an inspiration and do believe he lived his life by his terms and that is how he ended his life.

I'm sorry I'm slow in realizing it was out there and that I am now commenting on it. I hope I do get some feedback on what others thought of the documentary.

Cheers,
C :snoopy
