This one has me scratching my head. Is this person saying that Johnny and Bale filmed a scene together in a restaurant in this building? Not possible as Dillinger and Purvis never met before the night Dillinger was shot. Are they saying that they both, but seperately, filmed scenes in the same restaurant? hmmmm

I agree Karen and Christine--most likely filming separately or----maybe in the same restaurant but not realizing it? In the Warren Oates Dillinger movie, Purvis/Dillinger have a scene together in a restaurant........

I don't know who Bill Zwecker's sources are, but the Garland Building was used for extras holding last night. The filming was across the street in the Pittsfield building on the 4th floor. You could see it from the street.
The crew said Mr. Depp was on set and I saw the car he's been traveling in, but sadly, not the man himself. I did see Mr. Bale, but only for a second.
The base camp was set up a few blocks away and all the trailers have the character names on the door. Purvis was there, but I didn't see Dillinger.
I haven't checked the area out this morning, but I'll give you an update when I go out for lunch. :thumbsup

There were also reports on imdb that Johnny was on set last night even though there were no first hand reports of anyone seeing him. They are scheduled to be in Chicago today and tomorrow as well. Locations on Lower Wacker were mentioned.

There was also a mention of a possible return to the Paramount in Aurora for future filming. Maybe that's when they'll film Bale's part, where Purvis looks for Dillinger. Nice article:

btw, I read somewhere in the last couple weeks that the Dillinger family pronounces their name with a hard g (as in finger), not the more familiar soft g we're all used to. I wonder which version the film will use.

Lots of newsy stuff floating around today...I hope they don't break with accuracy with Dillinger and Purvis. They can mess around all they want with other things, but please please please not with this one. I think it's such an integral part of history that Purvis never actually saw the man he hunted until the night he was shot.

Just a crazy thought: the Dillinger family changed the pronunciation to avoid identifying with the notorious.

THanks for the added info. everyone, I too hope they don't have Dillinger/Purvis meeting each other either---I would imagine Mann wouldn't want to have a "redo" of the Oate's film. It could be two different restaurant scenes with each actor not in the scene with the other.......

It's possible, I suppose, that Bale and Depp had lunch or a snack together between takes at the restaurant in the Garland Bldg and people (extras or other building tenants?) thought it might be for a real scene?

Someone on imdb was at the Chicago filming last night and was told that Johnny flew home Monday night. He's expected back for Oshkosh filming. What a guy to put off a dash to the airport after Aurora filming ended so he could make his admirers happy. I tend to believe this report since there have been no Johnny sightings, just a few rumors. I'm so happy he was home for Jack's birthday. :)
