What a great guy!! We are so lucky as fans that he appreciates us as much as we appreciate him.
Was Christian Bale part of the meet and greet also?
Karen - April 8, 2008 12:01 PM (GMT)
If you all want to really understand how special this meet and greet really was? Johnny was reportedly on set before or around 6am...do the math. He'd already been AT WORK 18 HOURS and still came out for the fan event because he said that he would.
How many other performers, after a day like that would have just blown the fans off and gone home?
I haven't seen any reports about anyone else being there, this was Johnny's promised event earlier in the day.

That is awesome. I don't know how he does it after such a long day but he is so appreciative of his fans. A man of his word.... gotta respect that.
I hope he gets a few days off to rest before hitting Osh-Vegas :) I'm glad that he will be able to spend some time with his son for his birthday.
Karen, thanks for all you do too! We are all appreciative of all the hard work you do to keep us Depp fans informed.
woohoo
Everyone have a fabulous day!!!

.....and that's why I'm a Johnny Depp "fan". In addition to admiring his fantastic acting, it' acts such as this that show what a unique, kind person Johnny Depp is to everyone. Bless him for coming out so late at night after a long work day---and to those hardy fans that kept waiting in the crowd--congrats! :)

raetherese I love the Osh-Vegas word

My aunt and uncle live in Oshkosh and have always called it Osh-Vegas :) It kind of grows on you, doesn't it :)
Anyway, Wisconsin needs a glitzy name to go with its Hollywood production :)

:angel Johnny is truly an angel on this earth. His loyalty and dedication to his fans goes way above and beyond the call of duty (if there is a call of duty). Despite the many things that are said to him by fans (good, bad or obsurd) he still remains gracious and full of class.
It only makes me even more proud to be a fan of his.
Thanks to all for sharing :thanks

Depp-Nightwish-Fan - April 8, 2008 06:18 PM (GMT)
God how sweet of him!!! I don't know if I would come to screaming and yelling fans after a day of hard work  lolz He's just the best!! :D (but we all knew.. ) :P
Thanks all for sharing! :thumbsup

So based on what we have read... are they taking a couple days off and starting back up in Oshkosh on the 10th?

Well, according to a post on Hollywoodchicago.com, there is interior flming going on in the heart of the Loop in downtown Chicago today. There are some great old buildings in that area. On imdb a couple Chicago extras mentioned filming somewhere for a couple days this week. We don't know for sure if Johnny is involved in any of this, though, or even if it's true. Hopefully he's getting a break.
Karen - April 8, 2008 06:50 PM (GMT)
Thanks Fan for that update!! Don't you think it sounds like it could be second unit filming in Chicago? Seems like Johnny's worked several overnighters and long days in the past week or so.

Well, I'm just blown away by these articles and the clip of Johnny greeting his fans!
He never ceases to amaze me with his warm heart and dedication to those who admire him!
He's a tough act to follow both on and off screen!
God bless him for all that he does!
:thanks for posting these!

Thanks FAN... I appreciate the info.
I do hope that Johnny gets a break... I can only imagine how hard it is on any of the crew, actors, extras etc. to pull an all nighter.
Burleycue - April 8, 2008 08:46 PM (GMT)
He is just amazing, isn't he? :thanks for all the info and links!
raetherese - April 8, 2008 09:21 PM (GMT)
From what Karen had said over at the PE Columbus blog, it is his son's birthday tomorrow, so hopefully he will be off for a few days to rest and have a birthday celebration before heading to Osh-Vegas :)
JohnnyFanatic - April 8, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
I was one of the lucky ones in Aurora yesterday (I live only 10 minutes away from the Paramount Theater, so I had to go there!) I was able to shake Johnny's hand again! woohoo
It was inspiring seeing how kind and gracious he was to his fans...it always makes me proud to see that. He always seems so happy and appreciative, and I love how he tries to personally connect with each person there. He is so special...
It's a shame that it had to start raining the minute he started greeting people though. But when Johnny Depp is standing right in front of you, it's easy to forget about the rain! :D
I was able to get some pretty good pictures of Johnny greeting his fans...I'll try to share them in the next couple days.

Yup, I did post that, and I'm hoping that he does have today and tomorrow off for Jack's bday. Which we will be celebrating here tomorrow! woohoo

I don't know about you guys, but all that pushing and people yelling Johnny's name and everybody telling everybody to stop pushing and fans trying to hug/touch him and shoving things at him to sign makes me nervous and afraid for his safety. I love that he does these meet and greets (he is such a sweetheart) and especially in the rain (you can see raindrops on his glasses!), but I'm always afraid of the random nutcase in a crowd like that. I hope those security people and Jerry have eyes all over. Take very good care of him, he's mighty special. :angel

I am with you Debbie, I was concerned for Johnny safety, and even the fans safety. People get crazy especially when tried and after a long day of waiting. I am sure Johnny was tried too. I hope he can continue his meet and greets, but most of all I want him live and well. I offer a pray each night for his safety .(He, also, does a lot of flying too)
The more I know about him, the prouder I am to be an admirer of Johnny Depp.
"God keep him safe"

Please don't worry about Johnny. His people are very well trained and you never know who or where they all are. ;)

Thanks Karen. but I will need more of an explanation to stop my concern regarding Depp safety. But thanks for trying.

Johnny's security team are highly trained professionals, they know what they are doing. Johnny trusts them and that's good enough for me. He's not worried or he wouldn't be out there.

woohoo I'm so happy for you--way to go! Looking forward to your pics. The guy is just amazing and more than gracious taking the time to meet everyone. I can tell you were thrilled! :)
Karen/FAN-thanks for the added info. on filming---it's tough keeping up with this Dillinger gang! I hope Johnny will spend time with Jack for his BDay, too.
Yes, Johnny has many people that want to meet him and he pays well for his top notch security. I'm sure if it becomes unsafe for him or others, his security will step in.....

Oh my gosh what a wonderful day!! I'm sorry to be late in thanking you for sharing this with us!! He's such a nice and decent man!!
I just watched a couple of those videos and he's so genuine with everyone..like you said he tries to personally connect with people. And you know he had to be so tired and he was soaked! How great that you got to shake his hand and meet him again! woohoo
We'll be so honored to have you share your pics with us! :thanks
raetherese - April 9, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
I don't know if this was shared here or not yet, but when one of the other actors came out to hang with us in Columbus he emphasized how he was really lucky that he could have the opportunity to hang out with us. He then looked over his shoulder at Johnny's trailer and asked us to keep in mind that someone else probably wished that he could be doing the same thing but he can't. I couldn't help but look over at the trailer after he said that thinking how right he was. Here is this guy spending all this time, talking to us, joking around, laughing, taking pic, and signing autographs. No barriers, no bodyguards, just him and us. Not long after his time with us was done, he went back to his trailer too, but came back out because he said that it was far more fun to hang out with us. I was glad that he was able to do that but at the same time, I was sad that others (like Johnny) who would probably love to it, can't. I do think that he is awesome for doing as much for his fans as he can and always going above and beyond what he has to.
People in Wisconsin have certainly fallen in love with Johnny. But it stories of his kindness, like buying the Girl Scout cookies, waving and smiling at everyone out his vehicle, and doing meet and greets that have made people take notice of how special he really is. I think the kindness that he shows to others is contagious, making all of us see that the little things do matter. He truely is a treasure and are we are lucky to be his fans for sure.
Hopefully that wasn't too lame :)
