Capt. Jack Sparrow's Black Pearl vessel from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies arrived Wednesday in San Pedro, as set dressers went to work preparing it for shooting of the third installment of the franchise.
The 109-foot-long three-masted tall ship had period rigging but no sails as it sat at dock at Berth 46, where it will be for about a month, workers said. No filming will occur during the ship's visit and the location, at the end of Miner Street, isn't open to the public, but the ship can be seen from Cabrillo Beach.
British fort sequences of the first two Pirates films were shot at the old Marineland site on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. At least one sailing sequence from the second was filmed off the coast by Trump National Golf Club.
