RACINE — John Dillinger’s 1933 bank robbery in Racine will be depicted in the new Johnny Depp movie “Public Enemies, but the scene will be shot in Milwaukee.
The specific location and date have not been formally released.
“There are always changes at the last minute for a variety of reasons,” said Dave Fulton, publicist for the Universal Studios film.
A spokeswoman from the Milwaukee County Historical Center, 910 N Old World Third St., did confirm that a bank scene will be shot there. But she was not certain it was the Racine scene. The center is a former 2nd Ward Savings Bank and was built in 1913. Inside is a large vault which the set is being created around, said spokeswoman Kathleen O’Hara.
