Title: Greg Roberts leaving for Europe - for awhile
Description: Shantaram mention

FANtasticJD - March 31, 2008 10:00 PM (GMT)
Here's an article about Roberts leaving Mumbai with his fiancee, heading for Europe. They plan to be wed back in India late in the year. He also mentions some filming for Shantaram being done during Monsoon season - perhaps the village scene? I can't imagine they'll be ready to do that this year so I guess they mean 2009. That will make a 2009 release a stretch I'd think. Time will tell... He looks very happy with his princess. :)

Well, Monsoon season ends late 2008. June to September is the monsoon season when the city is lashed by heavy rain.

Wow. She looks great, and really strong. :thumbsup

Does this mean he's MOVING away from India???

I agree FAN, I can't see this film being anywhere ready to film until late this year, if then, and yes, it would have to be the village scene.

It looks like Gregory David Roberts is maintaining his website once again. Check out the picture of him on the motorcycle...very cool:

I am so ready for them to get started on this film, I am so looking forward to it! I would also like to see Mr Roberts publish the second book. He once spoke of a trilogy. :thumbsup

I hope they can get something started this year, so yes, maybe get the monsoon scene out of the way. I still think this one could be a "time will tell", but keeping :crossfingers Thanks for the update FAN and yes, they make a lovely couple. :)

I dont know if I should start another thread or not but check out the photographer who did the motorcycle photo of Gregory David Roberts at:
http://www.stephanegautronneau.com/

Click on Portraits and then the 4th picture is a man boxing, its GDR. Click it and go to her work on GDR for Vogue Paris. Beautiful pix. Also, there is a picture of the motorcycle he bought for Johnny. Lovely!

Jae, that's great! I love the photo of Johnny's bike. Those handles look like hand-tooled silver. What really strikes me, though, is how big and imposing Roberts is.

Oh, the second time around, I clicked on GDR's boxing photo, and understand what you're saying. Those are great pictures. Makes me want to go back to India to MAKE another chance to go to Mumbai. Wow. I'd love to be able to stop and take photos like that! :) Dreaming.... :artist

I like the name of the motorcycle shop, "Happy Bike Garage". I do not recalled ever reading about the name of the motorcycle shop in the book. I know they were mentioned...just do not recall a name. This one is really cute.

The Johnny bike is really something. I had read about the bike but never saw a picture of it before. If I recall correctly, it is in Mumbai for when Johnny comes so that they can ride together. I guess they have to ride together first before Johnny can take it home. The tale goes something like that...

Thanks so much Jae for the link!!

Thanks so much for these links, Jae! The photos are beautiful...and I love the bike. :)

I can't wait for this movie to be made either. Shantaram is definitely one of the best books I've ever read.
