A word of warning, please take this seriously. Universal Pictures takes it seriously and so do we here at JDR.

IF you are using a pic from the actual filming ( a part that was filmed by Universal for possible use in the finished picture) in your avatar or in your siggy picture, then you need to remove them. I believe they can be replaced with pics taken of them during non-filming times. Even if you took the pic yourself, UNIVERSAL Pictures OWNS the image. Savvy? SO....please start rethinking some of those avatars and siggy banner pics.

We really do try to keep within the laws of copyright here as much as we can. Once pictures, caps, clips etc are released, then they are fine to use as long as they reflect the copyright owner. Until then? They are embargoed images and have to be removed.

I know other forums, boards, blogs, community and social online places are allowing it. I only care about what goes on here, we respect Universal Pictures' property.

Please remove them beforeI have to. That means as soon as possible. ;)

Thanks a lot for the info, Karen. I was wondering about the use of these pictures, actually, so that really helps. I'm not quite sure about my signature though, but to be on the save side I put up the old siggy again...after all we don't want to get in any trouble with universal.

I changed the photo on mine, hope it's ok now.

I just happen to have made a PE avatar and sig banner but I instinctively knew what not to use. I'm using it on another board. I think I'll stick with what I've got right now. The red shows up nicely. And you know you just can't beat that sword.

I've had some people ask if I've heard directly from Universal about this. The answer is no, I have not. However, I've read that this would start happening and if it does? We are ahead of the game. It makes sense that it will. We've been through this sort of thing before with other studios about other films. So, yes time will tell, but I'd rather us be ahead of the situation and not get that email.
