Yes, I had noticed they are quite more airbrushed/ diffused lighted than the pics chosen for the article. The pic inside the RS article w/ him smiling and holding the turtleneck is lovely. You can see his "age lines* :rolleyes: but to me he is even more lovely w/ them!!

I e-mailed one of Matthew Rolston's contacts in L.A. I asked him about the photos resembling eachother. I got an e-mail back today and this is what he said~


I can tell you that Matthew did not consciously use the photo of John Lennon as inspiration. In fact, Johnny showed up with the hat himself.

Actually I had e-mailed Mark (Matthew Rolston's LA contact) after the RS Mag came out w/ JD inside w/ the torm white shirt and the blue bandana came out. I was so floored by that picture.

I sent him (Matthew Rolston) a thank you e-mail.
Mark got back to me and told me he sent it along to Matthew!!

I"ve never seen Johnny with a Black hat before.
It must be new.

I'm sure he has quite the collection of hats!!

And unlike most men today, he knows how to wear them. And how to hold a hat when he takes it off.

Also, how many men do you know who have a clue how to "tip" their hat to someone? Johnny does it in such a natural, unaffected way.

Then there are the poor guys who have bad "hat hair" when they take off their hats; whereas Johnny just runs his fingers through his hair away from his forehead ( :thud ) and it looks great again. ( :thud :thud )
