If they aged JJ...what do you think might attract Johnny to either of these roles? Why?

I don't think they should age JJ, and Johnny would love the role as Martin, (and I'd love to see him play it) as it would be another different type of character for him to sink his thespian teeth into. What would it be like to play someone so self-centered, to have had so much going for him only to throw it away because of his inability to keep it in his pants, then not have the courage to do the right thing and get his life back in order, to feel stuck with the shame, and not even really take any responsibility for his situation. Martin's moral compass is a bit broken-- so opposite from Johnny's personal integrity. I think he'd love the challenge to make this character sympathetic.

I am not finished with this book yet.. and I do feel Johnny would love to play the role of Martin also.. but JJ would be a great fit... and Johnny could play the role of a younger man.. as he does look younger than his actual age.

This is a tough one..seeing as how I really don't care for any of the characters....but..if I had to choose one..I would pick JJ.....johnny's background is more of a fit...the problem with this is that it would not be a far stretch for him to act.....Martin would be more of a stretch for Johnny to get to act......but i so hate going to a movie that Johnny is in and liking the acting but really hating the character he played (example: astronauts wife) ((he was such a mean man))

I was thinking about this actually while readnig the book....JJ (to me at least) is johnny 20 years ago. It would have been a perfect role, but now'o day I could understand him playing Martin because of his age for one and how eccentric his recent roles have been.
I really do not think, even though it would be great for him to play JJ, that the should age JJ's character...and if they do they must be very careful because what he is going through fits his age group perfectly.

How old do you think JJ was? I got the impression that he was not as old as Martin, but he was not that young either. He spoke of a lot of older bands and being at if for awhile. I had the feeling that he could be in his 30s. Johnny could easily play that age and he certainly has that rock star quality. I could also see Johnny play Martin though too. Martin was a real slime ball...and Johnny could have fun with that role. He could disappear in the fake and bake tan, scotch slurpin' ex-womanizer and could certainly pull off Martin's wit.

First.. I never even thought about Johnny as I was reading this book.. about a part he would play.. usually that slips in somewhere.. but I guess I just didnt see it.. or feel it with either Martin or JJ.

But.. if he were.. I'd have to go with Martin. I think he'd be a far more interesting character to play than JJ is. There's a lot of layers and conflicts in Martin.

And now you've got me really thinking about it .. so now when I go to finish it.. I'm going to be seeing Johnny as Martin
