Standard honour for Bonham Carter


Helena Bonham Carter has been named best actress at the Evening Standard British Film Awards.
She took the prize for roles in Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Conversations With Other Women.

Oscar nominee Daniel Day-Lewis won best actor for his part in There Will Be Blood, while Joy Division biopic Control took best film.

Julie Christie, who is also up for an Academy Award for Away From Her, won the outstanding contribution prize.

She took the Alexander Walker Special Award - named after the London evening newspaper's late film critic - in honour of a career which spans five decades and includes films such as Don't Look Now and Doctor Zhivago.

Control, which documents the short life of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, also won best screenplay.

Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood took the best film score award for his work on There Will Be Blood.

The awards ceremony was held at The Ivy restaurant in central London.

Doesn't she look great?! Is that the same dress she wore to the premiere, only in black? I'm so glad she was awarded for her outstanding performance in ST (and the other film I haven't seen) - she's brilliant!
