Terry's response to the 2nd question is interesting---from Wordplayer site.

Dear Ted and Terry, I'm a big fan of AWE and it's personally my favorite film of the trilogy. There were a couple of questions I have wanted to ask, and I hope that you will please clarify them for me.

1. When DMC ended Jack was devoured by the Kracken, while the Black Pearl was torn into pieces and damaged beyond repair.

So why is it when Jack reappears in Davy Jones' Locker, he doesn't have any trace of damage, and all of his personal effects are in tip top shape? Shouldn't he even have any recollections of being grinded up by the teeth of the beast?

Plus, why is the Black Pearl back in tip top shape, all of its cannons now again on-board when they had been destroyed or thrown out by the Squid?

DId both Jack and the ship magically "reconstruct" themselves offscreen?

2. Why does Will need to lock his heart away into the chest at the end of the film, when he is going to ferry souls to the next world? Didn't Davy Jones do so only after he had gone against his appointed duty?

1. The damage to the Black Pearl is still present, mainly the aft stateroom, and is commented on in a deleted scene.

2. Davy Jones mistake was not putting his heart in the chest, which is required, but instead when he buried it away from himself, on land, where he could never go, in order to not feel again. Will makes a different choice, he hands his heart over to the one he loves.

OK..Seems like Davy Jones said that he could only step foot on land every 10 years. Yet he says above "NEVER."

I wonder if they aren't making some of this up as they go along? Did I miss something about the curse?

I think Davy Jones shouldn't have buried his heart in a chest in the ground. If he had offered it to Calypso, maybe he would have gotten her back again. Once she didn't show up after 10 years, he stopped trying. That was a mistake. Cap't Will Turner fortunately doesn't make that mistake. I'm sure he doesn't want tentacles for a face. Ewww.

Think he maybe just made a slip there? Maybe he meant he could never go on land durng those 10 years, but since Will gave his heart to his true love, didn't hide from love, this could break the curse? Just guessing---of course, but I think he's hinting that the Will/Lizzie love could be the love that ends up breaking the curse.....

Agreed Donna!
There's always a curse breaker and I think that their love for each other might be it.

Okay so Terry states that Will handed his heart over to the one he loves. Fine. But I wish they would tell us WHO'S GOT THE BLOODY KEY! :banghead

Still thinking Will might have some trust issues! :shistle

I just skimmed through AWE to see if there was an answer - no.

When Will & Elizabeth are on the beach and he hands her the chest & asks her to look after it the key isn't in the lock and neither one of them is wearing it around their necks. I'd like to believe Elizabeth has it...surely if he trusted her enough to watch over the chest he gave her the key too...?

Jack has the key-----
