OK I'll start by saying that the clue on page 29 set my red flags flying, but I sure didn't know what we would find, but I knew with him telling the Monk and plague story that HE was the trouble...

I must admit I totally missed the clues that Samarin leaked to Balashov in chapter two. I was convinced that the Mochian actually existed until almost the end of the book. Balashov assumed that Samarin was a convict because he did not know what year it was, he was unaware of who controlled the trains and he had no knowledge of the present revolution-which supports the identity of a man who had been in a prison camp for several years. Thanks but that's just because I don't know enough to keep my mouth shut.
Truly, I just don't get things right away, and this one had clues that didn't fit together right away for me, but that's usually how I am, accepting things at face value and not always asking why.
