What would the book have been like without the "Illustrated Story" at the back?

The book would be all right but The Illustrated Story makes it special in my opinion. :) Anne r

The book would have been fine without it but it adds so much with it!
After you read the first part, naturally you would want to see how it all turned out. So you get to the film encapsulated on exactly the right parts so that if you never saw the movie or knew the story you'd 'get it' and want to go see it. I think Mark outdid himself on this part!
I also loved the how the concept art was added for the scenery and other scenes ( meat grinder, barber chair) and the close up shots, ST's bloody face and razors are two of my favorites.

I would have still enjoyed the book, but yes, I loved that addition. Reminded me of the graphic novel type books. I also liked the sketches that were included---just shows how creative everyone was that worked on the film.........

Shorter! ;)
It was interesting to see what moments they chose to illustrate each part of the story, and which lyrics and such. I like the addition of the sketches, too.
There's a companion book to the musical Wicked called The Grimmerie which also has an illustrated story & song section toward the end. In comparison, The Grimmerie included full song lyrics & some dialogue opposite the pictures they chose to represent each scene. I liked the extensivity of that. On the flip side, in the Sweeney Todd book the layout of that section was a little more artistic and it read like a large poem, which I also really liked.
