I've just found out that there are two upcoming screenings for Sweeney Todd in the LA area and JDR has been asked if we have anyone who'd like to attend. These will fill fast.

If you'd like to go, please email your full name and your JDR member name to johnnydeppreads@yahoo.com before 6pmCST on Monday, Dec. 10, 2007.

These screenings are always over booked to ensure a full house and just because you have a pass or your name is on the list there is NO GUARANTEE that you will get in. First come, first serve. You will have to stand in line, so get there plenty early.

You all know the drill by now. ;)

All of the confirmations that we got for JDR people are in. Some people got in, some didn't. They are not transferrable so only the person named on the pass can use it as IDs are being checked.

Everyone who's name was included on the list has been emailed their pass.

I just got in from the Orange County, CA screening. 97.1 FM Free radio sponsored the event at Tu Tu Tango restaurant. A Costa Mesa barber brought out a red barber's chair and gave free shaves. They handed out 2 posters to everyone: The one with Sweeney in his chair and a new one with Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett. Before they started the movie, they had some give aways even a couple of Sweeney soundtracks. People answered questions about Johnny Depp. I didn't get picked. One lady cheated when asked what Johnny was most scared of (clowns) She yelled out singing. Oh well.

The movie was amazing. You won't be disappointed.

I was lucky enough to attend the ST screening Thursday night in LA. For those of you who live here, it was at the AMC Theater at the Grove, Fairfax & 3rd. It's a really nice theater with stadium seating.

Buccaroux & I got there around 5:30 for the 7:30 showing and we were maybe the 15th or 20th people in line. Within half an hour the line was snaking around the lobby & they put up those post things with chains in between (what d'ya call those things?) to manage the crowd. By 7:00 the entire lobby was FULL. When I saw how many people there were it certainly made me realize how LUCKY I was to get a pass. Seems like half the city of LA was there. For future reference, please listen to Karen when she says GET THERE EARLY. There's no guarantee of getting in unless you're one of the first in line.

Was it worth the wait???? OF COURSE it was worth the wait!!! I don't want to post any spoilers here, but I LOVED this movie. It's just so TIM. And everyone does an amazing job on the vocals. Johnny's voice........ :thumbsup He sings as Sweeney with a Cockneyesque accent and it's just magnificent. He totally nails the notes & holds them & omg, I was sitting there with my mouth open thinking "is there anything this man CAN'T do?" (I know, he can't dance. :D )

I'm the first one to admit that I'm NOT a Sonnheim fan, but I did see the DVD of ST with Angela Lansbury & George Hearn (not sure of his last name) and I struggled to get through it. The music was just not my thing. So I'm going on and on about how I don't know if I'm going to like the music in the movie and blah blah blah, and now of course I went out & got the soundtrack the second it was released. Leave it to Tim & Johnny to completely blow me away.

The audience was pretty quiet. I don't know if they completely "got it". Or maybe they just went quietly into the night with visions of razors in their heads. I was laughing at Helena's songs and the actual slashings were pretty funny. This Sweeney guy is such a madman. "By the Sea" is just hysterical. The look on his face just cracks me up.

Karen, my eternal thanks to you again, my dear, for sharing this great opportunity with us. The only thing I regret about the evening was that you couldn't be there with us. It's totally not fair that we get to see it before you do. Yet you keep on giving us these gifts every chance you get. I hope you know how much we appreciate you. And not just for the movie passes, but for keeping this board running. I'm sure most of you saw the links for the aol movie fone thing where Johnny talked about going online. You KNOW JDR has to be one of the sites he goes to! So Johnny, if you're reading this, I think you should PM Karen & say thanks! That'd be a nice Christmas present in return for all she does for us!
