Do you have a favorite? What does it say to you? Why? Did you like the technique of ending some of the chapters with a little poem?

OK I'll start this one. I like a ton of them, but one that I really thought was something we all can relate to comes at the end of Chapter 16
There was a man
Who made a boat
To sail away
And it sank.
LOL Been there, done that, felt that emotion.
I enjoyed the poems because I think he tells you a little about what's going on. Or what's gone on. LOL JPD's book that I really loved called "The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B" ended each chapter with one.
Some of the poems broke my heart (like the one above) more than the incidents that they are relating to.

That was one of my favourites too, Karen !
Another one that seems to sum up the man very aptly is......
On the land
A plant,
On the plant
A leaf,
This man
Ate
The leaf.
Lol, speaks for itself. Here he 'suggests' a promise to provide for a future with Marion and the baby. But there's always going to be the possibility that Sebastian will take the fresh buds of their endevours and swallow it down his own gullet before it has a chance to bare any fruit!

I think this fits Dangerfield and the way he thinks perfectly.
All I want
Is one break
Which is not
My neck.

i read a library copy & i had to return it......wasn't organized enough to write any of those poems down. but....they usual gave me a chuckle.....a clever tool to wrap up a chapter. i don't think they were all funny but most i liked.

Some are funny and some are sad, they seem to carry the theme of the chapter. Look at the ending poem...
God's mercy
On the wild
Ginger Man.
That pretty much says it all.

There were also a few little poems and songs in the middle of chapters.
Sebastian
thou art blessed,
And Sebastian,
Also the true song.
A tinder of night together
With being
A bagain basement
Of kisses.
Get astride me.
Touch, whoops, tender
Me,
Mr. big tree of love.
(pg. 173)
Take deads
Away.
Play music
Please.
(pg. 247)
Only wanting the pleasures of life, and not the difficulties and unpleasantries.
That seems reasonable enough.
