Oh wow. How cool is that. I think it's absolutely fantastic to offer such opportunities to JDR, Karen. :) I'll never be able to make use of them actually, since I live sooooooooooo far away, but I'm happy for everyone who's actually able to go and attend such premieres.
And to whoever attended the Beowulf premiere: I hope you had a great time and I'd love to know what the movie is like. I'm thinking about going to see it myself, but so far I wasn't really sure what to make of it. So a review would be fantastic to make up my mind. :)

No report yet? :( I really wanted to know about this film. Was anyone able to attend?

Oh, excellent! I hope they enjoyed it.
Deppsdarling - November 7, 2007 09:47 PM (GMT)
I did enjoy it! Thanks so much Karen for the JDR opportunity to attend The Beowulf premiere. It was fun to go to the check in table with all the other industry people to pick up my tickets. After we picked up our tickets, we had time to watch the stars arrive outside the theater . Pretty much all of them went out to sign autographs for the fans that were waiting. I got Ray Winstone 's ( who plays Beowulf autograph. They had a whole Beowulf Village set up where the press was. We weren't allowed to go in that area of course. But we were allowed to walk in one area that lead right to the red carpet part that lead into the theater. All the stars entered that way after doing press stuff in the village. We got free sodas and popcorn and then got to our seats. While waiting for the movie which started about 15 minutes late, I went to the bathroom and I saw Anthony Hopkins in the lobby signing autographs, so I got another program from the door and had him sign it. B) Brad Pitt was being escorted in as I was walking back in so I got to get a close up look at him. Handsome in person. I was very surprised to see that after the movie was out the stars walked out the same way as the crowd. Most left during the credits, but I did see Nicolette Sheridan and the guy who plays Jerry Jax on General Hospital ( he is in the movie ) being escorted out to wait for their cars. There was two theaters showing the movie. When I picked up my tickets, they said if the Village theater was full then we had to go to the Bruin which was for overflow. But we went in early enough and got to sit in the Village theater where the stars were.
As for the movie. I am not a fan of Beowulf and wasn't sure how I would like it. However , I enjoyed it very much. It is very different with great effects, scary moments, violent , excellent fight scenes, The perfect fantasy movie .The acting is also great with terrific performances by John Malkovich, Anthony Hopkins and Ray Winstone. It was in 3D which made it even more entertaining!
Thanks to JDR for this opportunity to attend a real premiere!

Deppsdarling, that's wonderful you got Ray Winstone's autograph. I enjoy his work very much. He also played Sweeney Todd in another film, non-musical version I believe. I've been wanting to see it but can't find it anywhere to rent :( Anyways, I'm glad you had fun! What great a marvelous opportunity; I heart JDR.

Lauralestat, have you tried your local public library? I got my copy there*, completely free--the best deal in town. It was a BBC made-for-TV movie.
Rose
*Unfortunately, I didn't have time to watch it at the time, but I'll probably check it out again some day.
