I just don't get this now. I ordered through SHoutfactory and their description page still says Bonus Tracks---the one isn't called Deleted Scenes but rather Moments That Didn't Make the Cut. Confusing for sure! Aaaaaaag!
Depputante - October 29, 2007 04:30 AM (GMT)
I haven't ordered it at all yet, because of all the changes.
I'd be tempted to buy the one with the longest running minutes.

They certainly like keeping us confused.. dont they.. lol

I sent an email to Shoutfactory as I ordered it from their site since they showed the extra material. If it's not on there, I'll cancel and order it from amazon as it's about $3 cheaper.

I have good news and bad news. First, shoutfactory responded to my email. Bad news, the DVD they referred to was the ITAS Icons DVD and a Dave Chapelle DVD! So, I've fired off yet another email---I'll let you know what I hear. If I don't get something more definite in the next coupld of days, I think I'll cancel this order.

Thanks again for that update!
Depputante - November 6, 2007 04:12 AM (GMT)
Is this it? Is this a new listing? I thought we couldn't find it, and now this one is showing? I'm very tempted to buy this one. Any guiding lights around?
Amazon's listing:

Yes, that's why I ordered from Shoutfactory because they listed the extra material. Amazon didn't show extra listings. I've emailed SFactory 3 times but they keep responding with another ITAS that's not Johnny. STill waiting for a response to my last email, so no news yet.
Depputante - November 6, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
OK . I've emailed Amazon, asking them if their DVD includes the bonus tracks.

It's interesting that they list the deleted scenes on their site. The nice little preview video they show only mentions the new Lipton intro. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get the promised new bits. :crossfingers Whichever way it goes, there will be only one version of the video. If ShoutFactory includes it, Amazon et al will also have it.
herestoyou - November 7, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Keeping my :crossfingers too FAN, but I'm not very optimistic. Shoutfactory hasn't replied to my latest email and the only email I do get from them states they haven't rec'd the DVD yet to ship to me. If it arrives without the extras, I'll return it as it's cheaper through amazon.........

I just don't understand why we're being so jerked around with this. I will be satisfied with my scratchy tape until they get it right.
:thanks for staying on top of this, everyone.
Karen - November 7, 2007 03:17 AM (GMT)
DItto to Arnelle's thanks to all for keeping us posted!
Depputante - November 7, 2007 03:19 AM (GMT)
I do get irritated by sloppy marketing schemes, and companies not being able to make up their mind if they're going to sell a product or not! I'm not big on marketing, BUT at least list all the details, and if you're going to sell it then SELL it !
The most interesting thing I see is that the closer to the source, the higher the price. I guess Amazon negotiated for the biggest volume discount.
herestoyou - November 12, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
I finally rec'd a reply to my 3rd email to SHoutfactory about the ITAS studio extra features. Here's their response:
| QUOTE |
Thank you for contacting Online Customer Service.
Our records indicate the DVD you order should include the following bonus tracks:
James Lipton: Flashbacks Inside The Actors Studio Great Moments That Didn?t Make The Cut
Thanks again for contacting us.
Regards, Online Customer Service |
Now this could just be a reprint of what they have listed on their site, or it could be the real deal. Either way, at least I have written documentation, so if the tracks aren't included I'll have good reason to return it.

Received an email from SHoutfactory that my ITAS DVD has shipped today! It will be interesting to see what exactly is on it.

deppobsessive - November 16, 2007 12:17 PM (GMT)
The first one I ordered from Amazon didn't have the extra scenes..Just the James Lipton one
I have now ordered the one from Shoutfactory since it still states that it has removed scenes too..
I hope that is true or it will be making itself back to them!
I do believe that would be false advertising..
Hibblette - November 21, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
Well I got mine from Best Buy. Haven't watched it yet.
But I will as soon as I possibly can and I'll report back. woohoo
Karen - November 21, 2007 12:39 AM (GMT)
Looking forward to everyone's reports! ;)
herestoyou - November 21, 2007 01:21 AM (GMT)
REc'd mine fromt Shoutfactory today and the only Special Feature is JAMES LITPON FLASHBACK. For those that have theirs already, it this all that's listed on your copy? The site still shows the deleted scenes, but it's not listed on the back of the DVD. Since the return label says I can't return it if it's opened, I'm wondering what the back of the DVD says from those that have watched it. I'm trying to find a phone number for SFactory so I can call them....

wwjdd - November 21, 2007 02:23 AM (GMT)
Hey Donna. I got mine from Amazon today and same thing - just the rememberances of James Lipton at the beginning - nothing else.
Here's what's on the back of my box:
| QUOTE |
It's common knowledge that prominent actors and directors approach interviews, especially on television, with some caution. Over twelve years, presenting more than 200 of the most lustrous stars of film, theater, television and music, ITAS has earned the reputation of being a forum where guests can speak fearlessly, openly and honestly about the things that matter most to them, their craft and the crucial events of their lives and careers that shaped them as people and artists. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnny Depp, who began as one of the most intriguing actors of his generation, has become one of its most respected artists and incandescent stars. Launching his career as a teenage heartthrob, then moving into eccentric roles in films like Edward Scissorhands and What's Eating Gilbert Grape, he has alternated between independent films like FALILV and mainstream blockbusters like the POTC trilogy, leading to the inescapable conclusion that his future is as bright and varied as his vivid, unbridled imagination.
In one of only a handful of interviews Johnny Depp has ever granted, he brings both his fascinating eccentricity and his deep, uncompromising devotion to the craft of acting to the master's degree candidates of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University - and to the viewers of Inside the Actors Studio in 125 countries around the world.
"Total and utter satisfaction with your work - I think it's death for an actor." - Johnny Depp, 2/25/2002
SPECIAL FEATURE: JAMES LIPTON: FLASHBACK |
It's the interview exactly as it was shown on T.V. I couldn't see any differences.
And, as usual, it's the weird stuff I notice. During JD's introduction, when they're showing stills from his movies, a still of him in From Hell is identified as The Man Who Cried. I was surprised. Normally ITAS is very thorough in it's research.
Hibblette - November 21, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
I'm glad I got my copy. If there is ever another version that comes out I will invest in it for the deleted scenes.
But...
Mr. Lipton starts out explaining how there was practically a riot outside the studio where this was filmed of people trying to get in and that you actually (I suppose they edited this out) could hear at times this loud crowd on the outside. Also he got several loooonnnng standing ovations from those that were on the inside.
It's almost as if they were lucky to get what they got out of this.
Also it's possible there were things Johnny said that he did not want to be released.
There's always that possibility.
You should listen to Mr. Lipton's opening on this-it's very interesting.

Thanks Hiblette---I do want the DVD, but SFactory charged $3 more than amazon, so if I can talk them into crediting me for the shipping and return charges, I'll then order elsewhere. If not, then I guess I'll keep it as I only have it recorded and want the DVD version. Yes, if they ever come out with an extended version, I'll be buying that, too! :D THanks for the info........

Hibblette - November 21, 2007 05:24 AM (GMT)
Hey in this day and age of high prices-go for it.
But seriously - I'm just enjoying it.
There's no commercials :P

Finally heard from Shoutfactory and they agreed to credit my account for the extra $3, however, no mention of the error on their site about the ITAS listing tracks. I just checked and their STILL showing the additional tracks. Oh well, at least I can take the wrapper off the DVD and watch it now!
In addition, I ran across this on the net, a contest to give away the DVD from SF and they mention that it has the deleted scenes:
