The first FYC ads are out this week in the trades:
Zodiac - All Categories ( WB & Paramount )
Le Vie En Rose - Best Actress Marion Cotillard
Breech- Chris Cooper- Best Actor
This will be interesting to watch, We know Johnny has TWO films that should get nods in many categories!

Thanks, Karen. And so the whirlwind begins! I loved Chris Cooper in Breach and Marion Cotillard was nothing short of phenomenal in La Vie en Rose. Of the films I've seen so far, she gets my vote for best actress - by far.

And there are ads for Atonement, and in HR there are ads for Lust Caution and Eastern Promises.

FYC means For Your Consideration. They are ads placed in trade publications, mostly Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, to catch the eye of voters for the various awards groups. They are like any advertisement: meant to persuade viewers that their product is the best. It's also a way for producers to target parts of the film that they particularly want voters to focus on. It's even a way to let voters know if they want an actor or actress to be considered in the lead or supporting category. Here's one that was issued for Finding Neverland:
