As we said a while ago, test screenings are starting in late Oct. I've learned that there will be a test screening of SWEENEY TODD at Universal tomorrow, Oct. 23. It's being held inside the studio complex so access is controlled.

Ooooh, this is great news, Karen. Maybe Tom O'Neil will get to see it and finally get his proof that this film is a cut above (sorry) :P

I can confirm this. I have a source who just called me. It's 100% going down in the evening. I can't wait for the reviews to come rolling in.

Now I'm getting nervous. I soooo hope he'll like it. I wonder if we'll really see a report from him. I'd expect the previewers would have to sign some sort of confidentiality agreement but maybe not. The buzz will really get going after the previews start, whether there are 'official' reports or not.

This is a screening for audience reaction, not a press screening.

Luckily are were able to have some JDR people going!! woohoo Hopefully they can all get in.

Update on the screening...I've heard that the list is full, they overbook and everyone who's name is on the list is not guaranteed a seat or admittance. Also the theater is small, very small.

All these previews appear to be overbooked so that they are sure to have a full house. Then it's first come, first served. I know Karen warns everybody to turn up early for a better chance of getting in.

I've been told that this is an audience reaction screening. They are looking for information, feed back. This isn't the usual "sneak peek" kind of screening that they do in large theaters. This is a very small, very intimate setting, within the confines of the Universal movie studio. It's not at a large movie complex. Your name must be on the list to enter the studio. They will turn people away whether your name is on the list or not.

This may or may not be the final version. This screening is not for prublicity or to get the fans and movie goers excited. Those come later. This is a fact finding mission for Paramount and they want detailed feedback. So to ensure that they get the full number that they need for their stat collections, they invite more than then need. Usually with these things 30% or more who think they can go at this point in the day, don't go. For one reason or another. They get sick, the kids get sick, they have to work late, they are too tired...etc.

I will be patiently waiting (yeah right!) for reviews from the lucky JDR members that will hopefully in attendance. Thanks Karen and MovieDan for the info.

Just an FYI here, anyone getting in may be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement asking them not to reveal certain things from the movie. IF that's the case, I can't ask people to break the agreement as it's a legally binding contract.
