What is your opinion? Is it a great idea or blasphemy?
What about adding him to the other locations?

Captain Jack........this is one of those issues that I really can be on both sides of the fence on.....I love Captain Jack....but....the movie was based on the ride and to change it doesn't seem right............................but...if you look at it from a financial point of view...the movie and Captain Jack did bring in a lot of revenue for Disney and revitalized the interest in the ride ...so to add him would make alot of sense........I am looking forward to seeing Captain Jack in the ride....he seems like he belongs there now....because he left such am impression on me that to have the ride without Captain Jack would not seem right.....I know I am a seesaw on this issue...we could discuss this for a long time and still not have an outcome.....but the bottom line is that they are adding him and I will someday go and see Captain Jack in the ride...Disney is always updating and changing things...at least this ride will stay..there was one ride that I loved at DW and then next time I went...it was gone...so as long as the ride stays....they can update all they want

Why not add Captain Jack?
The Imagineers have made changes and updates all along--each incarnation of the ride in consecutive parks have been done just a little bit differently.
I have read about how they plan to include him. He'll just add a little bit more flavor, is all. He won't be the focus of the ride, and he won't take anything away from what the ride is now. And how exciting it will be to spot him!
I think it's brilliant! As long as he looks enough like Johnny Depp to recognize him as CJS, but not be the spitting image--if he looks at all like the NESCO figure that so many of us have, that would do it.

I think this is one of those situations where Disney has such a HUGE new "classic family movie" on it's hands that they would be remiss NOT to include CJS modelled after Johnny. But they will be smart enough not to mess with the ride too much but simply update it enough to make whole new generations of POTC riders happy. We all get what we want, by keeping it "classic" enough for those of us who've grown up singing that "yo ho" song and yet making it familiar enough for the newbies who only know the ride after POTC. WTG Disney!

I've always had the impression that Disney does its best to keep up with the times. They've taken down rides in the park that have not done well (including some older classics which we were sad to lose) and they update the rides and shows to keep them fresh and exciting so people continue to come back to the parks.
I would love to see the original Pirate ride in California (I've only been to the one here in Florida) BEFORE they update it, since it was the blueprint for so much of the film, and it is different than the ride we have at WDW.
It will be hard to do without the ride while it is being updated, but it will be so much fun to rediscover it when it reopens!

Since I grew up in California I know the POTC at Disney better than the WDW POTC....but I am so hyped about being at DeppCon this July and seeing the NEWW Capt. Jack version.....
