I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions to the discussion
and for being so respectful. I'm glad you liked the House of Lords scene.
There was a great moment in the filming of it. There were so many extras
and so many wigs that it took around three or four hours to get all the
'Lords' in place and looking right. They were mostly estate agents and
lawyers from Wells in the south west of England (the scene is shot in the
chapter room of Wells Cathedral) and they were beginning to get a little
restless. Suddenly, without warning, Johnny appeared and did the whole
eight minute speech in one take, getting right in the faces of the extras.
The terror and awe they register is genuine. After that gruelling day,
Johnny spent three hours signing autographs for his fans. I can't tell you
how much I admired his work and professionalism that day.
Thank you Mr. Jeffreys for sharing this with us! You have made this discussion our most memorable and most fun to date! We thank you for also taking the time to respond to our questions and also for sharing this type of film moment with us here at JDR. Many heartfelt thanks..
(that's our Johnny...always finding time for us, his fans)
