Title: Lost in La Mancha ('92)

Hi, When I was in Asia, on TV, they had a showing of Lost in La Mancha, so I recorded it. But on IMDB , it's listed as 1992 and under the (Special Thanks) category. So as I understand there was financing problems? yes?
So is what I have recorded NOT a movie? Even if it's a documentary, it seems to be in a strange category on IMDB. Can anyone shed some light on this? Why wouldn't it be listed in the movies section, since the video games of POTC are ?
Was it originally supposed to be a movie, that got turned into a documentary?
And I've heard that Vanessa is also in the film, but where? What time?

It was originally going to be a movie. But then they had all sorts of problems with the weather, actors, money, etc. they ended up having to shut down. So, they turned it into a documentary to show the difficulties they went through. It is very interesting.

And Vanessa was supposed to be in the movie, but they shut down before she filmed anything.

The Man Who Killed Don Quixote was the movie that was supposed to be made. Johnny was playing a sort of perverted Sancho Panza role and Vanessa was supposed to do the Dulcinea role. What filming there was took place in very early October, 2000. Terry Gilliam, the director, invited two film-makers to do a documentary of the making of the movie. That turned out to be the only thing that happened with the project. Their documentary,
Lost in La Mancha, is the result and was released in August 2002. There was a brief segment in
LILM which showed Vanessa at a costume test but she never flimed any part of the movie itself. Here are a few screenshots of V:

Here's a link to an interesting interview with the filmmakers:

This DVD mentioned in the previous post is entertaining-sad yet funny and JD has about 20 minutes of interview time which is an added plus. I thought the bonus features were a bit tedious. B)

I thought I was going loopy, but not 'seeing' Van in the movie,,er,,documentary.
It is a sad situation they had to attempt making the movie. SO many natural disasters etc... yet quite humorous.... just like ... Poof! good bye movie! :( :upinsmoke
