Title: Man Ray closed

FANtasticJD - July 19, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
Someone on JDF posted that she tried to visit Man Ray in Paris last week and found it closed. There was a sign posted saying something about a "World Place" opening in its place. Based on that I found this bit of information:

QUOTE
It’s your last chance this weekend to visit the Mandalaray (formerly the Man Ray) on the Rue Marbeuf before it closes for good on July 2. Apparently it’s going to reopen in the fall as “ World Place ”, with a slightly absurd-sounding goal of being like a computer chat room but in the real world. Hmmm. We’ll see.

So it seems that Man Ray/Mandalaray has closed for good. :( I've no clue if Johnny is still involved in the new venture but it doesn't sound like the sort of thing he'd go for. (Note, that's just speculation on my part so doesn't really mean anything.)

Thanks for the info. FAN---I was hoping to visit there next year. Don't know if this new venture sounds quite like what I would like. Yes, wonder if Johnny's still involved-------

I was just wondering about Man Ray yesterday because I was reading an article on celebrity-owned restaurants. I wonder why it closed. It's a shame. Because I understood that they did a outstanding business and the menu sounded absolutely delicious. I saw their menu online.

My hubby and I went to Paris a few years ago and I insisted we eat at Man Ray. It was absolutely amazing...the food, the ambiance, the entertainment, everything. We had no idea that it was only open for dinner and when we showed up at 2 in the afternoon, the staff was busy cleaning and preparing for the dinner crowd. We must've really looked like tourists, but they invited us in to take pictures, etc. They were burning Nag Champa inscence and the place was just so Bohemian and inviting. Of course we made reservations to come back that evening! I'm saddened to hear it has closed.. :(

That's just sad. I was really hoping to get there one day.
As a dreamer , I hope Johnny opens up his own Man Ray one day.
A girl can dream. :angel
