I am just now getting home to post this. Karen callled me this afternoon to let me know that Marty Klebba, and Giselle and Scarlet were going to be there. Sounds like they are having a blast.

Another call from Karen. Jack Davenport and the parrot and the dog introduced the 2nd movie.

Oh how fun!!! :snoopy Thanks for keeping us posted Holly. I went out after work today and got my ticket for the 8 o'clock show Friday. I would have gone tonight, but I get up way too early to be able to stay out so late.

I am home from the movie and have another update from Karen. She said that Naomi Harris (Tia Dalma) introduced the 3rd movie. woohoo

Just returned from the marathon at the El Cap--------what a great day! Disney had this so well organized, a lot of great prizes raffled off---of which our very own Karen was a recipient!! She can tell you about her great prize. Met up with Karen, Theresa, Newbie, Yo, Beachbum as well as Yvonne and her husband.

The time really flew by and having Marty Klebba(my daughter was able to get his autograph), Veronic & Lauren, Jack Davenport and Naomi Harris was a real treat. The crowd was extremely enthusiastic and the the celebrities really appreciated that. Loved the film and need to see it several more times as I missed some lines due to the loud cheering in parts!

We were fed all during the day---outside in back of the theater with tables set up and what appeared to be the red carpet from the DLand premiere. Even thought the bathrooms had lines, it moved smoothly. All in all a great day!

As I've said before, if you have not had the experience of seeing a Pirates film at the El Capitan, try to go see AWE there. Between the set pieces and costumes on exhibit and the spectacular surroundings of the theater itself, you really won't want to miss out on one of the BEST theater experiences you could ever have. It really is a special place!

The Marathon wasa lot of fun. saw Donna and her lovely daughter and DaisyK and Wamber. It was a pleasure seeing and speaking with you all again.

The food was good and it wasa fun and tiring day. Back towork for me to day and then off ot AEW on Saturday and Monday.

Loved seeing all the stars and the dog and parrot were adorable.

I think they still leave the door open for another POC but we shall have to wait and see. Alot of Captain Jack in this one thought I was in heaven!

OKm I am signing on here with less than 4 hours sleep. Yesterday was fantastic! I was so thrilled to be able to meet so many wonderful JDR people!! Still I didn't get a chance to meet up with eveyone who was there from JDR. The place was mobbed and crazy!! It was hard to keep up with people who were in balcony seating if your seats were on the floor. loll Yes, I can't believe I won a prize! lol I never win anything. It's a lovely necklace based on the heart that Tia Dalma wears!! I was in so much shock I don't even rmember getting up out of my seat to claim it. LOL

Many thanks to CaptainJackSparrow for being kind enough to report in for me. The crowd was going crazy there and at one point I wasn't even sure I had her on the line, as the back ground noise was deafening! ;) She could hear me, but I was having a terrible time hearing her. LOL

We also stayed for the midnight show following the marathon. I know many people I was with took pics...my battery died. Services are pending. LOL So we have 15 hours of POTC yesterday!! WOO HOOO!

The Disney people were fabulous and everyone seemed to be having a great time. They also gave away 2 Gibson custom AWE guitars!! They will be delivered. Keep a sharp eye on ebay. snirt

All of the celebs were gracious and seemed amazed at the excitement level of the audience. As Beck has said, IF you have a chance to see AWE at the El Cap, I highly recommend it! Costumes, set pieces etc...the theater is decorated and has a special opening for the film.

FYI, Jack Davenport is just darling in person!!! And Naomie Harris is very sweet and very tiny!! Marty is about as friendly and nice as can be to the fans!! He also kicked off the midnight show.

More later as my brain wakes up. LOL

I'm back home and somewhat recovered from the Marathon excitement. It started off well when I bumped into Beachbum at O'Hare airport and found we were on the same flight to LA. Our first stop in LA was to have lunch at Mel's on Sunset. The view from our table was of the 8 storey high Capt Jack billboard. Note in the first picture the banner hanging from the streetlight has the name Jack on it. That's actually an ad for Jack Daniels but was perfectly placed for our Jack!


That evening we had dinner with a view with Karen, Beachbum, Cricket, Kazren, Sheila and a Deppcon friend - and lots of fun! The next morning we had breakfast at the Mels near the El Capitan with Karen, Beachbum, Herestoyou and her lovely daughter, Newbie, Theresa in glorious wench costume and her very nice sister. Did I miss someone??? The El Capitan was in full festive mode with numerous entertainers and news cameras and many folks in great costumes. There was one woman on stilts wearing the Black Pearl made out of balloons who was there for the marathon, the midnight show and was there again early the next morning. I'm sorry I missed taking her picture. That's some amazing endurance.


Inside the theater I was surprised that only Will and Liz had costume displays on the main floor. The exhibit downstairs was closed initially as they were doing some filming. It opened in good time before the marathon started so we were able to see some great goodies. Here's a sampling (I especially love monkey Jack's costumes!):






and finally, in a display case all by itself, we had Capt. Jack's outfit!


Inside the theater, the festivities started with the El Cap organist dressed in pirate regalia, the organ decked out like Davey Jones'! The side balconies were decorated with organ pipes which spouted bursts of steam when the organ was playing A Pirates' Life for Me!


Above the stage/screen was the skull:


As has been mentioned, Marty and the actresses who played Giselle and Scarlett were the first Pirates actors presented. The latter made a couple cute comments about slapping Capt. Jack and also Will in the movies.


The very cute dog with keys and Cotton's parrot were the first introduced before the second movie. The yummy Jack Davenport followed to our great delight. He's VERY nice indeed! We were all hoping for one of the principal cast members for the intro to AWE but instead were introduced to the lovely and tiny Naomie Harris who quite won us over.


During the breaks between movies we were treated to food in the lot behind the theater. Marty signed autographs and posed for pics during the first break. Such a sweetie! There were banners for each of the main characters scattered around the area but Capt. Jack's was the one most photographed, especially by parents whose children wanted their pic taken with Capt. Jack! At the entrance to the picnic area they had the pirate skull from the premiere red carpet. The whole picnic area was covered with the red carpet, a fun touch!


The marquee at the El Capitan is always great. For the marathon they showed the three skulls which was the trademark for the marathon. It flashed back and forth between the poster image for AWE. Once the marathon was over, just the AWE image remained.


We had a nice long break between the marathon and the midnight show, long enough to drop swag off at the hotel, have a spot to eat and drink and visit Johnny's hand and footprints.


The excitement in the line waiting to get in for the midnight show was almost as high as it was for the marathon. By the time the show started, my lack of sleep caught up with me. The actor who played one of the Chinese pirates along with dear Marty introduced the film. I tried valiently to stay awake for my second viewing but only managed to see about a third of it this time. It was a great time with fun folks and fabulous films. Seeing all three together like that was such an amazing treat.

Thank You for the great report and photos! They turned out nicely. We finally made it downstairs afterthe film yesterday and were able to see the exhibit. Great fun to see the props and costumes. It was so much fun at the Marathon! Mets o many nice people!

Donna I like your idea of a yearly Marathon! could be used as a charity fundraiser and possibly start meet-ups like Star Wars has across the country for POTC fans. Glad so many JDR members got to participate!

Well shoot!!! Kennyda!! I posted a couple of times asking if anyone was going to the Marathon to email or PM me. I'm sad to know that you missed seeing the post as I would have loved to have met you too!! I still don't remember going up there to claim the prize. LOL Glad you were there and had a great time tho! I sure did.

Just got home tonight and am trying like crazy to catch up.

It was a great couple of days spent with wonderful JDR friends!! I've known some of y'all for years now and you are like family to me! Other are new friends to meet up with again next time!! I like the idea Donna of doing this again next year! :thumbsup Thanks to all!

Sorry to be so late reporting in, last Thursday was AWEsome!

I was staying in Anaheim right next to Disneyland for the premiere so I had to get up early (4:00am) to get my costume on and drive to Los Angeles. I met up with so many wonderful JDR members for breakfast and had a great time. I had never been to the El Capitan before so it was a really exciting experience for me. The costumes and props we amazing, I took a few pictures but haven't had the time to get them developed yet. Eventually I found my way up to the balcony and took my seat, eagerly awaiting the movies start. As was mentioned they gave out some wonderful prizes before each movie. One of those lovely guitars went to a lucky fan sitting five seats away from me, and I was so excited when our very own Karen received one of the prizes. Congratulations Karen! woohoo I was overjoyed when Jack Davenport came out to introduce the second movie, as I really missed seeing him at the premiere.

When the marathon ended and I came out of the theatre and was greeted by a news camera who asked if I would talk to them for a few minutes. I declined being the shy type and also half asleep, but they asked me again saying I was in such a beautiful costume. I declined again and they asked me for a third time, so I spoke to them for a little while. I also stayed for the midnight show but since I woke up at 4:00am the previous morning I could barely stay awake for it. After making the trip back to Anaheim, I was so relieved to take my corset off and get some sleep.

I will get my photos developed sometime this week and if any of them turned out I will scan and post them here. Again, I had a terrific time and was thrilled to be able to meet so many wonderful :jdr members there. :captainjack

Hi Theresa!!! It was so great to meet you!!! And your costume was AWEsome!!! I don't see how you made it the whole day in that corset! LOL But you were a fabulous wench!!!
