Title: Clarification about *costumes* at Disney Premiere
Description: From Disney (also arrival time)

Karen - April 23, 2007 06:18 PM (GMT)
I've just spoken to one of JDR's Disney reps as you all wondered about costumes and arrival times for those wishing to stand and wait on the red carpet.

** If you wish to wait on the red carpet, Disney does not permit park guests to wear costumes of any sort. So if you are in something that could be considered a costume by park management you will be denied admittance to the park and/or asked to leave.

** If you have purchased a ticket to the Premiere itself? They are encouraging Pirate themed attire by Premiere attendees. But want to remind people to leave the swords, sabers, guns and cannons at home or in the car or on the ship. ;)

** About timing of arrivals to wait on the red carpet. Disney says 6am and that there will be no overnight parking or camping allowed.

(Inserting my opinion here: Last year they allowed the line to start forming at about 5 or 5:30. So, I'd get there early-ish to see what the mood of the day is. Savvy? Worst that can happen is that you have to get a cup of coffee and come back in a few minutes. )

Theresa - April 23, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
:thanks so much Karen for finding out about this, I had really been wondering about costumes and what time to arrive. I think to be on the safe side I will get there around 5am.

It never hurts to be early! ;) And you're welcome.

Sparrowette - April 23, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
I was there at 5:00 AM last year and there were 100 people ahead of me! LOL. I will also get there around 430 - 500 . It will a long long day but trust me it is so much fun and so exciting and well worth it!

Yvonne in LA woohoo

momosanla - April 24, 2007 12:10 AM (GMT)
Awesome update Karen thank you! I forsee many cups of coffee in my future.

BootstrapBeck - April 24, 2007 02:06 AM (GMT)
Cannons?????

I can just hear Jack now!

"Stop blowin' 'oles in my ship!"

Thanks so much for checking on costumes and such, Karen!

I know some fans will be disappointed that they can't wear some sort of costume, but I understand that Disney wants to be able to "stage" things a certain way, so this is just one of those events where only "cast" members can wear costumes.

They did give the fans some nice hats and buttons last year, so hopefully they'll do something similar again this year. Those keepsakes do go a long way to keeping those memories fresh!

:thanks

Karen...I have also read about a ban on gang colors or gang attire. I have read on some sites about people thinking of all wearing red bandanas so they can find each other. Did they say anything about this type of attire??

Karen - April 24, 2007 04:16 AM (GMT)
They did not. And I didn't ask about any sort of gang attire. Only costumes.

But as an aside, I think that bandanas would be all but useless in a huge crowd, not to mention hot on a warm day.

SavvyAngelUK - April 24, 2007 07:54 AM (GMT)

angelbud21 - April 29, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
I have a question about arrival times Karen. I bought a ticket for the premiere. Do you think they would kick me out at 5pm if I decided to visit the park before?
Because I also want to be there for the red carpet.

If they do are all you people who have purchased a ticket going to be waiting outside the gate even though the park is open?

Sorry I am a first timer to the premieres and I have really know clue as to what I should do. I just want know what I am doing so I can possible get a good spot on the red carpet.

So could any of you help me out with some pointers of what I should be doing on that day.. because really I have no clue.

Also when it comes time to watching the movie... Will you automatically have a seat to watch the premiere of the movie if you have bought a ticket?

If you could help me out at all the would be great!
Thanks,
angelbud21

Karen - April 29, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
Since you have purchased a ticket, then yes you have an assigned seat. You might want to re-access the site you bought your ticket at http://home.disney.go.com/movies/pirates/premiere/ as it tells you a lot about the event itself! Have a great time and welcome to JDR!!

herestoyou - April 29, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
Angelbud did you buy the $1500 ticket for the premiere or just a ticket to Disneyland that day to sit/stand along the red carpet? These are 2 different events.........

Angelbud21 says that they bought a ticket to the premiere. The website I directed them to also has an email addy that they can access with any questions. To the best of my knowledge, premiere tickets don't give access to the park before the 6pm start time. They'd have to purchase a separate day ticket to the park. And the info on the site tells them that the red carpet starts at 6pm as does the premiere party. So they'd have to give up the party for the red carpet.

Edited for clarity.

angelbud21 - April 29, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
I mainly bought a ticket because I thought you needed one to be at the red carpet... and because you get to see the movie early. I wasn't too concerned with the party. I would give that up to see Johnny Depp any day :D Ha Ha Ha

I also have a ticket to the park too. That is why I asked if I would be made to leave at 5 only to reenter again at 6. If that happens then I would be forced to go to the end of a line of people that have been already waiting there since 5.

So if that be the case then I would just stand out there at 5 with the rest of you guys.

Thanks for the welcome and all your help. I appreciate it you guys are great! :D
:thanks

If you have a ticket to the park then you can stand on the red carpet while it is going on and yes you will have to stand in line with everyone else to wait on the red carpet, people will be lining up at dawn. Once inside the park you won't have to leave at 5 as the red carpet starts at 6. However, Disney will close entrance to the park. Please don't confuse these two separate events.

The premiere is a separate event. Having a ticket to the premiere does not allow you any special status in waiting on the red carpet.

BUT I stongly suggest those of you who want to forego the party portion of the evening for the red carpet to email the address on the website to ask about how you will get your tickets for the premiere as that's a separate entrance outside of the park itself and there's a separate area for security clearance and check in. I don't know if you will logistically be able to attend the red carpet and the movie premiere.

Hi Karen, I have a few questions. I'm from Canada and this is going to be the first time I'm going to a Pirates pemiere. How early would you advise I show up at Disneyland? Afterwards, where would I go to wait at the barricades, while people set up for the red carpet? Do you need any kind of ticket for where the red carpet is going to be? Lastly (Sorry about so many questions) but afterwards, how to I get a seat to watch the film screening?
Thanks

Hey xx_sawyer_xx let me see if I can answer some of your questions. I was at the premiere last year, along the red carpet. The only way to attend the actual screening is to pay the $1500 for the charity ticket. Only those lucky individuals get to see the movie.

If you haven't done that then you will have to find a place along the barricade next to the red carpet like the rest of us. The park opens at 6:30am. You pay the admission to enter the park. I suggest you find your spot ASAP. The park is closing early to new visitors at 5. The VIP arrivals should start around 6. After the last VIP has made their way to the "theater" in Adventure Land the staff escorts all the fans along the barricade out of the park and the movie begins.

I hope that's clear.

xx_Sawyer_xx - May 1, 2007 05:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm just a fan. I don't have a ticket to the premiere, so I'm not sure what it is I'm supposed to do.

Karen - May 1, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks MomosanLA for jumping in there!! To add to what she said, the Disney people will not allow over night parking or camping out, they tell you to arrive early. As we've said before, "early" is relative. 5am? 5:30am? It's your call. I'd suggest buying your ticket before arriving at the park that day. You can do that online at Disneyland.com or at any Disney store.

Also, the premiere benefitting Make-a-Wish is sold out.

xx_Sawyer_xx - May 1, 2007 08:52 PM (GMT)
Do you have to buy tickets for the area that the premiere is in? Or is the ticket for the whole park?

xx_Sawyer_xx - May 1, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
When you say the Disney staff takes you out of the park, do they take you to where the movie takes place or?

1200 tickets were on sale for the premiere for $1500. each benefitting Make-a-wish. They are sold out. You have to buy a separate ticket for Disneyland to attend the red carpet event, Disneyland doesn't sell tickets for separate parts of the park. You won't be allowed access to the premiere event/s.

You will have to leave Disneyland. The movie is shown in the park itself. The Disney people will make sure that all non premiere guests are out of the park. You can't stay to see the movie.

Hi again xx_Sawyer_xx. I'm guessing you've never been to Disneyland before. You buy a "Passport" for admission to Disneyland, that's all you need to get into the park that morning. The red carpet runs from the entrance to the park, down Main Street and down into a part of Disneyland called "Adventure Land". Adventure land is closed if not entirely that day it closes early in the afternoon in order for preparations for the premiere screening to be completed. Again, unless you paid for the Premiere ticket you will NOT BE SEEING THE FILM. Once the VIPs have been escorted to their seats the fans are ushered out of the park and it is offically closed.

xx_Sawyer_xx - May 1, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
So the fans can't watch the screening of Pirates?

xx_Sawyer_xx - May 1, 2007 10:57 PM (GMT)
Sorry about all this, but when the film plays at the Tom Sawyer Island, the fas aren't able to watch in the New Orleans Square? Or is that New Orleans Square only viewable to the cast and crew and VIP's?

Karen - May 1, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Nope you can't stay to watch the film. You are escorted out of the park.

New Orleans Square is part of Adventure Land and closed to the public during the premiere. No one outside of those people who have tickets to the premiere will see the movie. I don't think I can make it plainer than that. You will NOT be seeing the movie.

Here's a response I made to someone else's inquiry on another board....

No, no, no...not that kind of premiere. We crazy folks just get to spend an entire day standing, sitting, broiling under the SoCal sun, just for a chance, a teensy-weensy chance, that Johnny Depp will walk by us, close enough for an autograph or picture, or touch....while HE goes to the premiere!

See you all on the red carpet!

:D

Well, I didn't say it was going to be televised. Who knows if Disney will do that, last year they did a shortened version of the red carpet the day after the premier on TV.

I've heard that plans are underway for a live webcast, but I dont have the info yet.

So I'd say to keep checking in.
