The poetry in this book is definately adult in nature and it is very good, extremely "smart" and also very funny!!!

Keeping in mind that we need to stay within a PG 13 arena.... do you think the poems added to the book or detracted from it? Do you have a favorite??

Poetry is not my favorite type of literature period. I found that the poems in this book were funny and I think they made the book more enjoyable to read. I quickly became impatient with the chapters that had multiple illustrations and the addition of a funny poem made me keep reading the book. My favorite poem- B) My Love Spurneth Yams (page 109) is somewhat insulting to females but the words flow in such a way I laughed while reading and found myself reading it several times. :D

I have to agree with you Anne, I found that so many illustrations broke my concentration..and the poetry was a welcome treat! I do think it's smart and witty! Just like Jack!

It's OK Holly, this has been a very hard book to discuss. ;)
