Title: Buy a ticket to the AWE premiere
Description: New info from Disney directly added

Karen - April 13, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
This is from USA Today.... offering 1200 tickets for sale to the premiere.

I don't want to see anyone disappointed or angry that they've spent a lot of money buying this ticket and didn't get to see or meet Johnny. Please know that this ticket does not guarantee that you will meet or even see Johnny or any of the other stars or celebs. It does get you in to see the movie, a buffet and the park. So please don't think that your ticket will guarantee you a chance to see or meet him.

For sale: 'Pirates' premiere

Depp: Walking the red carpet, not the plank.

By William Keck, USA TODAY
If you've stashed away a pirate's booty of $1,500, you can book passage to Disneyland's May 19 world premiere for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Disneyland, the host for all three Pirates premieres, is selling tickets to the public in hopes of raising more than $3 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Twelve hundred tickets will be available, starting today, at www.piratespremiere.com.

"This year, we get to do a huge amount of good for a lot of kids," says Lylle Breier, the company's senior VP of special events.

The studio is making a $1 million-plus donation to the foundation; 50 Make-A-Wish kids and their families will be welcomed at no charge.

The previous Pirates premieres have been big events at the Anaheim, Calif., park, but this "will be the most exciting red carpet ever," promises Breier. "We turn all of Main Street U.S.A into a giant red-carpet arrival area."

FIND MORE STORIES IN: Caribbean | Disneyland | Orlando Bloom | Walt Disney Pictures | Pirate | Breier
After stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and others walk the red carpet, they will make a top-secret entrance before the seated audience. The film will play on an enormous screen erected on Tom Sawyer Island, capped off by a fireworks display.

Fans who can't afford the ticket price can pay regular park admission, enter at 6 a.m. and stay to observe the evening's spectacles.

After the screen comes down, workers will have a week to finish the Pirate's Lair attraction, opening May 25, the same day Pirates hits theaters. Among the Lair's interactive activities, guests can stick their hands in a "real" dead man's chest — if they dare.

If I had the money I would definitely buy the ticket and take the ride, especially since all the proceeds are going to a such wonderful cause. :captainjack

I saw this mentioned on the news on an Los Angeles station this morning, so I think with the publicity, the tickets will start going fast. Just a heads up for any of you thinking of buying tickets. And as Karen said, the chances of meeting Johnny are better on the red carpet than they will be in the stands at the premiere.

Edited to add: Some people on the Zone have purchased tickets and reported that NO cameras will be allowed into the premiere, so you won't be able to take pictures.

UPDATED INFO!

I have just spoken with Disney at length to get clarification about what you can and can't expect to happen on the 19th and have been told that those who want to or have purchased tickets, there is no "after party" for this event. There are few, if any free tickets, even within the industry. Every seat at the premiere will be a paid for seat. AND please note that the party WILL TAKE PLACE BEFORE THE FILM IS SHOWN. So while the film's stars are walking the red carpet, the party will be going on. So there won't be an opportunity to mix and mingle with the film's stars as we know they arrive just in time to make their special appearance and that's it. You will have access to the park that evening and there will be a buffet and a huge fun party atmosphere!! The event starts at 6pm and there should be some sort of dessert and coffee after, but the stars can't be guaranteed to attend any of the party.

So, all that having been said, this is not a usual premiere. This is a charity event that will benefit a very worthy cause, Make-a-Wish. We know it's near and dear to Johnny. I was told repeatedly that they cannot and do not guarantee an opportunity to even see Johnny, except for the casts' introduction at the beginning of the film.

I am grateful to my Disney/ Buena Vista rep for always giving JDR the truth and for being as plain as they can be about what and what not to expect. This will be a great, fun FUNDRAISER and a terrific party. But not a guaranteed chance to meet Johnny or any other cast member.

CLick the url below and be sure to read the fine print before you buy a ticket..

Nope no cameras...I think, bottom line that your best opportunity to see or meet Johnny will be on the red carpet, not at the actual event.

Here's the link for all of the details about what you can and can't bring in with you to the actual premeier event.

I begged DK.....and he said no :(

I'm very glad to see that almost all the money will be going to Make-a-Wish foundation!

Sparrowette - April 13, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
I will be at the Red Carpet to meet snd see Johnny. I will be seeeing the film on May 24th at the Marathon. I could not swing that kind of money. I prefer to see the Stars arriving and hopefully meeting Johnny once again. Thank You for the info Karen it is for a great cause.

Definitely for a great cause and I would imagine that all the tickets will be sold. Some companies could buy tickets, too, and then raffle or give them away to employees which would be nice. I'm afraid I'll have to pass on this one, but I'm so glad something like this is being done for the charity.

BootstrapBeck - April 14, 2007 01:08 AM (GMT)
Well, this was the answer to all my prayers! woohoo woohoo

I am absolutely thrilled that Disney found a way to raise money for charity and to let some fans share in the excitement of being on the red carpet.

:snoopy :snoopy :snoopy :snoopy

Just for clarification:

Cameras ARE allowed on the red carpet and in the Pirate's party, but NOT during the screening.

However, no video cameras of any kind will be permitted into the event.

So look for me on the red carpet.. :captain

I will be there promoting POTC3:STTT!!!!

Hi girls - I haven't posted here in a loonnnng time. I'm surprised that Karen hasn't completely disowned me!

I just need to say this: the past few days have been unbelieveable, and for those of us who live in LA, Karen has been our Supreme Angel. :angel If it hadn't been for Karen, I would not have gotten prime seats for the Pirates Trilogy, and if it hadn't been for Karen, I wouldn't have gotten prime seats for the Midnight Show. :captainjack And if it hadn't been for Karen & her lovely contact at Disney, I would not have gotten tickets for the Premiere. woohoo :snoopy :bow

I'm just so grateful to be given opportunities like this, and I tell God every day how much I appreciate it and how blessed I am. Karen is an absolute Angel for sharing these special magic moments with us. :thanks :thanks :thanks

THANK YOU KAREN. I love you more than words can say! And I owe you several drinks!!! :party :balloons

Also, please know that I've been told that the official "red carpet entrance" is reserved for celebs and notables. There's an alternate entrance to the park for ticket holders. ;)

I got tickets, and was quite excited, but now after reading all this, not as excited. I went last year and stood by the red carpet and got to meet Johnny, and it was great. It just seemed like it would be so much fun to actually be on the other side. I think it would actually be kind of cruel to not allow people spending this kind of money a chance at meeting the stars too. Why allow us a camera if there wont be anyone for us to take pics of :(
I realize this is a great charity and I give to it regularly, but lets be real, most people buying these tickets are expecting to meet and see Johnny (or the other stars), not just see the movie, as well as giving to this great cause.
I know your just trying to let us know all the info and I thank you for that.

Karen - April 14, 2007 01:29 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry to hear that you are disappointed. This type of film premiere charity event is offered all of the time as it's a great way to raise money for a charity by the studios. Miramax did it with Finding Neverland, and I believe Disney did the same thing with CARS most recently. I also think WB did something similiar with CATCF.

I am urging people to read all of the info on the Disney site, including the fine print. They don't guarantee you an opportunity to meet and mix and mingle with the film's stars. Will there be other celebs there? You bet. Will you have a chance to approach them? Who knows?

They are offering a great party, access to the film and all of the special goings on inside the park that others won't be able to access. You will be the first to see the film and on that fantastic outdoor stage they set up! In all reality, we know what a huge nightmare it would be if 1200 fans had free access to the stars of this film. It would be a mob scene. Disney isn't promising access to Johnny, Keira, Orlanda, Geoffrey etc. Nor are they promising that they will all be there. That's impossible to guarantee. They are promising a very unique and fun event for the last of the trilogy!

OMG!! I 'd love to go, but i can't :( . Too bad. but i hope everything goes wonderful and the most important thing, i hope they make a lot money for this beautiful charity.Have a great time mates!! :)

Geesh, I'm a little disappointed too, but I guess it's good to know so it won't ruin the entire night. I didn't expect to meet him, but I would at least like to see him. Bummer.

Karen - April 22, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Johnny should be there and be able to be seen, but close up? Disney is not promising that he will be mixing and mingling with fans. The party is scheduled to take place during the red carpet event and he is scheduled to to be part of the big entrance and introduction of the film, but he also has press and promotion to do during the film. I carefully questioned the Disney people about this to make sure of what they were offering a ticket buyer. If you buy a ticket, I just don't want people disappointed. Is there a chance that you will see him? You bet. Will you meet him? Probably not. There will be over 1200 people there too. I think it's better to know what to expect and be thrilled IF you do see him than to go expecting to be there right by him or OB or KK and only see them from on a stage or ship mast when the welcome is done and come away angry or disappointed. It's a big party and fan event, expect that and you will have a good time! ;)

If you want a better chance of seeing him, meeting him, having a picture made? Go to the red carpet event and get there early. woohoo

I wish that I could go. It would be a thrill just to lay my eyes upon Johnny even if it would have to be from a distance. Just to be in the same room........... :thud . So just be happy that you have the opportunity to be there. Some of us aren't so lucky.

I'm with ya on this one, Nicci. My only meeting with Johnny will be through my dreams. But sometimes, that's not so bad. He's great in my dreams, so I know he'd be great in person. Betty Sue and John did a fine job raising him. They should be proud.
