I called and mentioned JDR of course. It is 100.00 per person. I will have to try to swing this one. A little expensive for my blood. I will have to decide quickly because tickets will sell out soon. I think we will go should be alot of fun!
Already decided we are so there! I am taking a personal day off of work! This will be so much fun!

Reserved seats at the El Cap are $25 per show all of the time, so this is 3 movies and they are providing some sort of food at the breaks. It's a lot of money for sure, and if people can swing it, it should be great fun. But everyone has to do what's right for them and their families and we know we will be seeing it one way or the other. :captainjack

Newbie - April 12, 2007 09:00 PM (GMT)
I'm glad to see that this is happening for all POTC fans who can afford it....sounds like it will be an unforgettable event! I would like to think I had some influence in planning this (LOL  ) because last summer I sent an email to the Disney honchos asking for an event like the one the LOTR fans got when Return of the King opened. I remember passing the ArcLight theater in Hollywood and they had something like a buffet spread for the fans who were part of the marathon LOTR viewing..
BootstrapBeck - April 13, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Newbie -- Did you attend the LOTR event? It was absolutely fabulous. In addition to the three films, they gave us an actual still frame of the movie (showing one of the main characters) in a keepsake frame.
So I'm sure Disney will also give away a few cool keepsake treasures to POTC's devoted fans! That in itself can make these events worth attending!
woohoo woohoo
daisylovesdk - April 13, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
I was on the waiting list at the El Capitan for the midnight showing. I got the call yesterday, and I was also offered the marathon tickets. Instead I called the number posted here with group sales. I will be sitting balcony front row center. I was told that AWE should show around 7 pm. I am so excited! Thank you so much Karen for the heads up!

Bootstrap - no, regrettably, I did not attend the LOTR one. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, which makes me think the expense is not really that bad when you count the freebies and companionship at these things. There's truly no better experience than being with people who are equally obsessed as you are!
I bet all the seats will be gone when I figure out the money situation, but oh well.
Oh, the front center balcony seats at the El Capitan are so much better than being downstairs, IMO! :D

So glad some other JDR members will be at the marathon. Just to add a little bit more info., I talked with a person from the reservation group today trying to get a time frame for the day. Of course, it's all in flux as Disney hasn't done something like this before. She did pass on a couple of interesting little tidbits that I thought I would share. They are expecting the marathon to sell out, tickets are going pretty quickly. Also, AWE is almost 3 HOURS long!! woohoo The only reason she told me this was I didn't know if I wanted to spend the money on a hotel if the whole day would be over by 9:30pm.(I based this on the above post that the last film would start at 7pm.) So, all of the times are approximate as Disney is not sure how long it will take to feed 1000 people and get everyone situated. She said the breaks in between films could be as less as 35 minutes or more than 45. I was just excited to learn that AWE was going to be longer than the 2 1/2 hour time we've had for the first two. :snoopy

This is AWEsome news!!! I'm so excited, only 41 more days until opening day. woohoo :thanks for the info Donna.
Karen - April 13, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
I think there will be LOTS of JDR people at the marathon! :shistle Thanks Donna for sharing what you learned.
The time frame that I was given had everyone out by 11pm so they could clean up and ready the place for the midnight show. Everything's pretty fluid as it will all depend on how quickly they can get everyone in their seats and the event under way at noon---ish. LOL
Rumor has it that many people will be staying for the midnight show too, but they will completely empty the theater between the marathon and the midnight show.
Newbie - April 13, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
This sounds like a bring your blankets and pillows type of event....Disney should contact New Line to see how they did the LOTR marathon, lol..... and may I add, the AMC movie chain people filmed the LOTR marathons all over the country, interviewing fans..I'm thinking Disney might have some cameras videotaping the POTC marathon for inclusion on some future DVD set.
Sparrowette - April 13, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
:thumbsup
This is going to be THE event I think. I am sure Disney will do it up so nice and special. Thank You Donna for the info. See you there!

Agree and LoTR also showed the each of the first two for a week to ten day period prior to the premiere of the third in theaters around the country for those who could not get tickets to the marathon. Disney....are you listening. It would be great to see the 1st two on the big screen in the weeks before AWE. woohoo woohoo

It's my honor to have been able to share this news with JDR people first. You all are THE BEST! I'd been sitting on it for quite a while and when Disney called and I was given permission to share it, I was thrilled!
:captainjack Thanks so much Daisylovesdk for taking the time to scan these tickets and the info!!
Are y'all planning on wearing your Pirate attire? Remember to stay comfy!

I'm working on putting my costume together now. I don't know about comfy though as I will be in a renaissance style corset with a lace up bodice over it. :shistle

Hmmm well, keep in mind that you will be there for oh...about 10+ hours. Will the corset be removeable?

I know it's a long time to be wearing it, but I've worn a corset before and while it is a tight fit it never really bothered me that much. If it does become a problem though I could remove it and just wear my bodice. :)

Too funny Karen! Yes "comfy" is definately the key.....I did dress up for the pirate event, and I couldn't wait to rip that waist cincher off! Honesly I think that jeans will be better for 10 hours. I will probably wear a POTC or pirate tank top B)

Actually they're very Piratey - black with silver POTC skulls all over. I thought I looked quite the fashion diva. All I need is a pillow with a Capt. Jack pillowcase & a rum toddy & I'm set for the night. :D

No surprise, but according to wickmaven on the POTC STTT yahoo board, the marathon has been sold out for 2 weeks now....
