I've been given permission by the fabulous Disney/El Capitan people to tell the JDR community that the POTC Marathon WILL be happening at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood on May 24th. Please note that I've been advised that tickets will not be on sale for the POTC Marathon on the El Capitan website. You are asked to call the number listed below for your reserved seats for the entire event, no general admission seating available for this event.

For more information about how to buy your tickets for this once in a lifetime event please call this number: 818 - 845- 3110 and be sure to mention you read it on JDR!

A bit more info for you about the Marathon POTC event, check in at 11:00am on the 24th with the Marathon beginning at noon. There will be snacks and a box lunch provided (your choice of Turkey Ciabatta, Tuna Salad Sandwich on Sourdough bread, or cold Pastrami sandwich on rye), also popcorn, soda/water and an ice cream soda provided.

Price for the marathon event is $100. plus a $2. handling fee per person. POTC 1, POTC 2 and POTC 3 will be shown, with intermissions between, back to back to back.

Or you can ask about tickets for the P3- AWE Midnight showing (the 24th/25th) at the same number listed above. All seats are reserved seats and are $25. plus a $2 handling fee per ticket.


There will be lots of goodies and surprises and a full day to celebrate Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2 and 3 !!!

Also, I asked when placing making my reservation for the marathon if you could leave the theater and come back. I was told that this would be allowed as everyone will be given a special credential(I'm assuming like the ones given for the Ultimate Pirate Event a few weeks ago). Since we'll be staying in a hotel close by I wanted to be sure we could leave during some of the breaks. Just thought I would pass this along.

Thanks so much for sharing that, I bet people will want to get out and stretch their legs. The wonderful Disney people said that check in will be a bit more complex that normal because of the credentials that everyone will get. So I suggest being at the least on time, if not a bit early.

Yes, I was told to get there by 11AM. She also said there will be props/costumes from the film on display and raffles. She said the movie would probably start about noon but they want to get everyone seated and their popcorn/drink in hand so it will be "noonish" for the start of P1.

Yup, then P1 runs, intermission and a box lunch, then P2. Then intermission and an ice cream soda..then AWE!!

Just so you know, I just talked to the El Capitan about getting tickets for the midnight show. Told them I saw it on JDR, etc. They said they are only selling tickets for the marathon right now, but I should keep checking the web site because midnight tickets should go :( on sale within a matter of a few days. He couldn't tell me for sure when, just soon. I'd love to go to the marathon but I'm traveling with family and having a hard time convincing them to sit in the theater all day. :banghead They just don't get it!

Great news! Thanks for telling us about the midnight tickets. that's why I said to ask about them as they weren't for sale yesterday.

Maybe your family could drop you off and come back and pick you up...send them to Disney or Universal. LOL

I wonder if Disney is considering hosting these marathons at other theaters? It sounds like this particular one is exclusive to the El Cap.

If this truly is the only place doing this I just might have to extend my stay or book a return trip.....

The El Cap is a Disney owned theater. I don't know (other than in NY) if Disney owns any other theaters at all. Which is why the El Cap does such fantastic events that tie in with their films!! lol
