This is a fabulous looking event benefitting the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

PLEASE NOTE that while it says that Johnny is the "HONORARY HOST" that does NOT mean he will be in attendance. It means that he is lending the use of his name in promotion of the event. IF you decide you want to go, do NOT be disappointed if he is NOT THERE.

This is a common practice for non-profit and fund raising organizations. The celeb allows the use of his/her name to draw attention to the charity and the event. IF he is there, it will be a real treat. DON"T GO EXPECTING HIM TO BE THERE. Savvy?

I think you are most likely right, Karen. While Johnny may (or may not) be there, he would almost certainly be separated from the general public in a VIP area. Only very major donors to CHLA and other bigwigs would probably get a chance to get anywhere near him. On the other hand, it's a wonderful cause and sounds like a great exhibition. I wish I could see it. We can always keep our fingers crossed for pics!

How lovely, I'm so glad to see Johnny attach his name to CHospital! Well the timing could be right for him to be there if he will be in the states to begin promoting AWE, but you're right, better not count on it.

They gave him their Courage to Care Award last year so he's a big supporter of the hospital. :)

How lovely. I am sure Johnny will be there. I tend to agree with what has already been said that he would probably be in some sort of VIP area where he could help to raise awareness and raise money for the Children's Hospital as this is the reason he is there. Honorary Host that is quite touching. I am sure he is so flattered by this. I will be lookin forward to seeing and hearing anything that will be shown or soken about for this event.

It was my opinion and I did not expect to be attacked for that. It is up to each person to decide for themselves if they wish to go or not. as you stated go for the charity not for Johnny. I only said it in this way as I am sure if he lends his name to a Charity event and he has been named honorary Host he would be there. I am still undecided if I will attend or not.

We now know that when you said " I am sure Johnny will be there" that you were stating your own personal opinion. Thousands of people read this board every day from all over the world looking for accurate information about Johnny Depp.

Johnny has in fact lent the use of his name before when in the summer of 2005 he was named an "Honorary Cruise Director" for a charity event on a Disney Cruise ship that benefitted the Make a Wish group. Didn't mean that he would be there, and to the best of my knowledge he did not attend.

While I am sorry you feel attacked, I had to clarify if what you were stating was a fact or an opinion. As of right now at the time of this post, to the very best of knowledge, he has allowed the use of his name for this event and no where does it say or imply that he will attend.

Yes, it is up to each person to decide for themselves, but I don't want anyone to say they read here that he was going to be anywhere unless it's confirmed. " You cannot be sure that if he lends his name to a charity event and has been named honorary anything that he would be there as I've just sited another charity event with similar "honorary" status and to the very best of my knowledge he was not there.

So we can't be sure that he will be there. Until there is an official press release confirming his planned attendance at this event, then I have to question anyone who says " I am sure he will be there." So please don't take this as a personal attack as I will continue to question anyone who says they are " sure of his attendance. "

Things have been not so peachy this last week in a lot of arenas, especially for one for whom this board was created but in the word in general. It would be nice as well as healthier for us all to exert some kindness, pulease!!!
