These are the descriptions of 2 CATCF trailers that were tested this past weekend. These will now be added to show with movies. Here's a couple of suggestion that will help you read the descriptions...

For example:

1 - Cabin in snow / "This is the story of an ordinary boy..." / Boy gets into bed / Boy looks through window from bed

** A number (1) means a new film clip or thought, so then 2 would be the next, and so on

** a slash / separates action or thought or dialog

** "This is the story...boy..." Anything inside quote marks is the dialog, voiceover or what the announcer says.

And I've highlighted Depp's dialog.

These were two trailers made to be tested in the next few weeks. Either one, or both of these will be attached to movies for release in late April and May. Based on which scenes people like and don't like, these one minute trailers then will be broken down into 30 sec TV spots using the scenes that most people liked.

As you all know, the CATCF LA premiere is on July 10th. Help us get a head's up on who is planning to go wait out at the Chinese. Once I get a count I can check with Jeff and our industry friends to see if we can get any thing special for our JDR group....no promises..... but I think it is worth a shot.

JDR's Gina posted some tips for attending premieres at the Chinese here at JDR...here it the link, her post is the 2nd in the thread.

Click here: - Pics from last night's Batman (WB) (to see where you can stand for CATCF premeire)

I've asked some industry friends their take on waiting out and I will be posting that soon, along with the parameters that WB is planning on putting into effect that day. They are finalizing details and the press release this week. More when we get it!

To answer a question emailed me, yes you can email me at johnnydeppreads@aol.com if you would rather do that.

JDR is pleased to share this with you. So...here is the tentative schedule of Johnny's that we've gotten from a management firm. Please note that this schedule is TENTATIVE . Plans are still being set for this and these dates and locations are still being juggled. They will be firmed up next Wednesday and at that time we will repost or revise with any changes that are made. Since this info is TENTATIVE, and to avoid wide spread talk across-the-Internet of dates that may have changed by the time you read this, please keep this info on this board until final plans are set. We want you to be as informed as far in advance as we can, so that's the reason we are giving you the tentative schedule now.

Promo for CATCF
June 18- 27 Bahamas
June 27- July 4 Break
July 5- 7 NY
July 8- 15 LA

CATCF opens July 15, 2005 here in the US.

Appearances, interviews and press coverage are being finalized and we will provide you with all the details as soon as management and WB set the final schedule.
Please note that promotions will not be going on during all of the days noted but these are the locations where things will happen.

Here is an update on the NY CATCF promotional situation. This is the email direct from Michael at WB. So anyone reading this can know that this was really a planned event.

There always are changes in the movie business. I report info as I get it to help everyone out. This was always marked as **tentative** on our end, as we've been waiting for confirmation. I hear about tons of things that I don't post to the board until more info comes in. We never want to get rumors or gossip started which is why we used the word *tentative.*

From Michael:

We tentatively scheduled a NY promotional junket/premiere when the POTC film shoot was in the midst of being postponed. However, due to the overwhelming amount of press outlets that RSVP'd for a spot for the Bahamas Junket, we no longer needed a NY junket.

The two main late night affiliates are on holiday break that week, plus the two main morning affiliates came to the Bahamas so we are covered. The other area affiliates will be sent EPKS so NY is covered. The July 7th event will now be a press screening at a smaller theater. We don't expect anyone from the film since very few are based in NY.

We will now shift and feed to the Los Angeles area to prepare for the premiere in LA and the movie release. If anything changes with this, as can happen at the minute, I will let you know but with the holiday weekend, I doubt it.

** Just FYI -- Michael mentioned "EPKS" --- EPKs are electronic press kits. That is when the junket questions are filmed independently then duplicated, then they add film clips to it and then they are sent to a bunch of news entertainment programs.

This just in to JDR:

CATCF's Oompa Loompa (Deep Roy) did dance high
above Hollywood on the film's billboard to two of the Oompa
Loompa songs Danny Elfman created for the film!

The billboard at Franklin and Highland says "Have you seen an Oompa Loompa"

About 50- 60 fans were there and several news cameras and photographers.

They had refreshments including donuts, and some stickers and some prizes.

There was also a sign in white on the sidewalk that said "Chocolate Day" and urged people to "see the movie".

That is a high traffic area as it is near a freeway entrance so many people in cars were looking around.

More as we get it. Thanks to our insiders for getting this info to us so quickly!

I just got this from Jeff, he's taken a few minutes to help those going to THE PREMIERE tomorrow! Remember he works in the industry and knows the way these things work. SAVVY? He and his people will be there tomorrow Have a great time and somebody please kiss Johnny for me! LOLOL

He and his people will be looking for anyone holding a JDR sign! Be sure to take one!!! Also, since there may be more info coming, if you are going, be sure to email me to let me know. Just click on the email icon in the upper right corner of this message. I will be on and off all day today and tomorrow. If Jeff sends any extra info I will email those attending.

Have a Wonkalicious time!

** Remember that the movie studios do want to see you. The more people, the merrier. Studios love it and it is a good sign of how much exposure the movie has been getting. Studios and publicists do want their clients to meet the fans.

** The down side is there is never enough time for everyone.
There's press to do and photographers and they will be as anxious as you are to get to Johnny. It's their job.

** Go early and get a spot. Remember that in addition to Johnny fans, there are fans of the other actors as well as people who are staying near by that will want to look. Plus the paparazzi and then the people who go to all premieres (there are quite a few) and they are very territorial and know all the tricks of the trade.

**If you can't get there early. Still go, hang out and have fun.

** I advise against having a big group of people with you. Saving spots and reserving areas is just asking for trouble later. People will not be happy and will let you know about it. Everyone wants that first spot on the rails. Everyone wants the center area. So I would not guarantee to save anyone a spot. If there is one or two of you, fine. People can become quite evil and it is always best to be friendly with the people who are surrounding you. You are there for a long time.

**Bring two cameras you never know when the battery will go out at the wrong moment.

**Bring something to munch on and plenty of water. This way you can stay in one spot. Going in and out may become a pain. So just use it for bathroom breaks only.

**It gets hot out there so be prepared. bring sun block.

**Limit the items you want signed. People will be pushing, shoving and trying to get to Johnny. He will not have time to answer questions or sign certain items or mutiples. So it is best to have a small sheet or something small and easy for him to get. Have a sharpie with you, be sure that it works BEFORE you hand it to him .

**Do not get smart with or snap at security, WB personnel or theater people. Trust me they will remember you and will not make things easier for you.

**Do not bother the personnel with 100 inquiries about when Johnny is coming, etc. Most of them are busy and will not have time. Then you have the ones who want to be important and may not tell you the truth. Things change so much and so fast and most people will not know what Johnny is doing. No need to get yourself all worked up . Just because they are behind the scenes, does not know that they know what is happening with Johnny.
Someone like Johnny has the studio set a number of tickets aside for them and that is it. The communication is between the field publicist and Johnny's publicist. So save yourself some time and be patience. The people setting up have deadlines, so if you are there early don't bug them, ask for tickets or anything.

**Be prepared to have your view blocked by the stanchions and displays of the movie and a number of photographs. That is just the way it is.
Please remember that this is a business and these people have to get their interviews and press shots.

**The Chinese theater only has benches for a few premieres. Those are best because you get to sit down and relax and the time goes by faster. I forgot to check to see if this premiere is doing it before the offices closed. If I find out, I will let Karen know ASAP. If not, the city will set up the railing the morning of the premiere. That is where you will be standing. It is across the street from the theater. It is not the best place but Hollywood has certain guidelines for crowd control based on the fire department that they have to abide by. If areas get too crazy and crowded, the fire dept will shut down the premiere.

**Go with a "I just want a glimpse of him " attitude and you will be fine. That might be all you get. BE HAPPY! This is my advise from behind the scenes. It is so crazy and so fast. I attend premieres about 3 times a week so I have witnessed and seen it all on both ends, and from all studios. It is all work for me, but if I get a chance and or some extra treats, I will or send someone to look for JDR signs. No promises though as with this being an early premiere time, it is going to be a busy day.

LA premieres are much more different and aggressive then NY ones so remember that

There are some other helpful hints that I will turn in to Karen if I have time and she can send them to JDR members who are going . This could be a good head's up for you all. I will not list them here since this is an open forum .

Have Fun

Jeff

I know that Deppenpointe was there, Pam were you there too? Any JDR member who was at the Premiere yesterday please email me at johnnydeppreads@aol.com Please put Premiere in the subject line.

I talked to Jeff during all the premiere craziness and he's got some posters for everyone at JDR who waited outside. He did see at least 1 JDR sign. He was too crazy to walk over. This premiere was bigger than they expected what with the huge crowds so he was all over the place helping out WB.

He said he may get more stuff later. He was helping a WB guy help tell the stars where to go when their cars pulled up, so he may be in some of your pics.....

JDR member Deppenointe reports on 7/10/05 at 07:41 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is deppenpointe reporting back from the premiere.

I have to say that my hands are still shaking from the Johnny and Tim encounter. It's absolutely surreal since I felt that I would never be able to meet them in real life ever in my life.

I arrived across the streets from the Graumann's Chinese Theatre at around 8:45 and I was able to have a spot right at the front row thanks to the zoners who were saving spots for us there ever since 6:45 in the morning. We had a looong wait behind the rails, but the time seemed to whiz by since many Deppheads were there to hang out with. I wrote a private letter to Johnny, and I swear I had to have 15 rough drafts until I ended up with the final draft that I was going to send to Johnny. Karen left a small note in my PM this morning, and I copied that down and clipped that to my letter for Johnny to have.

It was so cool standing there since the soundtrack music was blaring in the speakers, and the theatre workers were starting to decorate the red carpet with couple dozens of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory posters. The lights were blaring and several impersonators came walking by and even a Willy Wonka impersonator who looked exactly like Johnny started hanging around the area. I had my "JDReads and JDZone congratulates Johnny and cast/crew" sign and several other zoners had "Zoners love Johnny" and "Semi-sweet and nuts" posters around. The time was slowly approaching 1:00 at this time. I was trying to read and have a few bites out of my sandwich but I couldn't swallow anything in.

Sorry for really stalling with my report, but it's really fun to go back and live out the anticipation. The press started arriving at 1:00 and a few crew members for the movie I believe walked through the red carpet. Still, the red carpet was still very quiet before the big ruckus arrived at 2:00 when the celebrities started arriving.

The one big problem we had to face was the traffic. Warner Bros. supposedly didn't pay the theatre enough money to create a road blockade for the premiere. So, there were buses and cars blocking our view of the red carpet. We had to constantly scream at the passersby, who stopped in the middle of the road to check out the red carpet, to get out of the way. It was kind of fun screaming at them, although it didn't really solve anything out. Some were plain rude and just ignored us.

Anyway, David Kelly (Grandpa Joe) was the first star of the movie to arrive at the carpet. Sadly, he didn't wave to us or give us any kind of recognition. I guess he was trying his best trying to get past the wave of paparazzi attacking him. Next were the children. I believe the boy who played Mike Teevee was the first of the children followed by Annasophia Robb (Violet), who looked stunning in pink. They didn't seem to pay attention to us at all either. Next came the utterly charming Freddie Highmore, with his spiked hair and his striped shirt. After a few photo ops with the paparazzi, he decided to come over to us. We were screaming like banshees and he was able to sign a couple of autographs for the fans, although he didn't get to reach the zoners and the JDRers. However, he gave a cute wave (he's more adorable in real life and his dimples are too cute to describe) and left to go to the theatre.

I think the girl who played Veruca Salt was there, however I couldn't see her face so it was kind of hard to tell. Well, there was Frankie Muniz and a bunch of other stars and elite crowds we didn't really care for. The press was quiet for awhile although the fans kept on screaming for Johnny.

A black SUV came and we immediately recognized it as Johnny's car. Everyone went crazy. But some frizzy black hair came popping out of the car and we immediately knew, it was the man of the moment: Tim Burton. What an amazing sight. His hair was in complete disarray but they were so alive. It definitely added into the unique character of Tim Burton. That director, that man, had presence. We screamed like crazy for him to come over and he willingly crossed the streets to get to us. We were yelling, "Tim Tim!! Over here! We love you, Tim!" It was absolute chaos as there was constant pushing and shoving, enough to leave bruises on your ribs. My eardrums were even ringing and I felt a slight tinge of fear that all this would accelerate 10 times more when Johnny would arrive. So, back to the amazing Tim. He tried to spend his time with each person in the line, trying to sign as much as he can. When he came to us, I literally could not breathe. Here was a living legend, in front of my eyes, and I couldn't swallow it in. In haste, I grabbed my sharpie and pulled the cap off, but someone shoved the marker into my face and I swear I had this big black sharpie mark slashed around my lip. I tried busily to wipe it off before Tim came, but it was too late. He reached for my marker. He signed my book and went on using my marker to sign for the other fans. I was trying my best to hide my face, rubbing so furiously that I could feel my skin burning. He came back to me and gave me back the marker, and I swear he gave the weirdest look at my face. Haha...I will always be remembered by him as the girl with a big black sharpie stain on her lip. How delightful...

The next cool star was Danny Elfman, and I went crazy. The soundtrack music from the speakers seemed to amplify a bit as he stepped onto the carpet. He couldn't come over to us at all, but still I was awestruck. Here's another film legend, one of the great composers of today, standing right there in front of me. Crazy...

Ok...I'll jump onto the moment you guys have been waiting for...We were getting a bit hopeless since the screening was beginning at 3:00 and there still was no sign of Johnny. There were several black SUVs that came around, as we waited with anticipation, but there still was no JOhnny. However, unexpectedly, someone yelled, "THere's his hat!" I quickly turned around and I could see the brown brim of a hat. THAT WAS HIM! We went nuts. I was right. It was ten times worse than with Tim. I kept on getting jammed to the rails and my shoes kept on slipping off. I swear I was slanted and just about to fall if it weren't for the people beside me holding me up. The funny thing was, I didn't yell as much as I thought I would. He was seriously a vision, and I just stood there dumbfounded. He seriously glides, and I'm not kidding here. He walks over so gracefully that you could barely see his feet moving. I saw several passengers on the road stop dead on their tracks, watching in utter shock over JOhnny passing by in front of them. There was a ruckus all around us with camera lights flashing here and there. He slowly went through the crowd of fans. SLOWLY....it was unbearable. He was SLOWLY approaching. This girl behind me started freaking out and I couldn't understand why. I felt so calm just watching him. He slowly inched closer, and the girl behind me reached out and stroke his hand. She started crying, "I just touched Johnny Depp's hand. I can't believe I just touched Johnny Depp's hand." It was quite hilarious. Then, he was right there. I tried to get the cap off carefully from my sharpie and asked the people around me if the sharpie mark was off my face. I just held out the sharpie and I felt a slight jab. Johnny was taking my marker. OMG...My heart started thumping a thousand beats per second. I shakily looked for my Dead Man dvd for him to sign. He paused for a second for me to adjust. His patience just surprises me. He signed in quickly and as I looked up, we made eye contact. I was lost for a second before I finally realized I had letters to give him. I blurted out, "I have letters for you!" He looked at me and I started searching for Karen and my letters to give to him. As he took it from me, he asked in astonishment, "Two letters?" I nodded. He smiled and gave a slight nod of thanks. I think I was about to die right then. Jennifer, a depphead right next to me, was worried about how Johnny would accept her artwork. Johnny looked at her drawing and widened his eyes. "Very nice drawings!" He gave a smile and signed her artwork carefully. He went on to greet more fans, and it felt like he didn't want to leave at all.

It was so like Johnny to immediately come to us right after he got out of the car. I just couldn't believe my eyes, that when other stars went immediately to the press, Johnny came first to us and stayed the longest with us. I guess Johnny had a very busy day ahead of him since he left right after his press interviews. However, although I didn't get to see it, he gave a big friendly wave to the audience from his car.

Seeing him up close, I felt very comfortable, although I felt nervous at the same time. He seems to have this peaceful aura surrounding him, and when he comes to you, it seems like he only focuses on you. I mean, so much that, I felt extremely special for those few seconds we shared alone. I still can't believe he took those letters home. From what I saw on his hands, Karen and my letters were the only things he was holding. I guess he was reading them on his carride home.

Just to quickly close this report, in Karen's letter, she wrote in the JDR messageboard address. I was hoping that, since he knows about this messageboard now, he might be able to visit us. How cool is that?!?

Hopefully, for those who weren't able to meet him today, we can set up another arrangement for the Corpse Bride and Libertine premiere. After meeting him today, it's become an addiction. I must meet that angel once again.

Some info about the after party on 7/11/05 at 12:53 PM

THE FOLLOWING INFO IS A JDR EXCLUSIVE.

Please just share the link to it here at JDR. Thanks

Ok y'all... here's a bit more about the premiere from one of my JDR insiders.

Johnny did his press stuff then left the premiere as he usually does and did not stay to watch the movie. He must have gone home or out to eat for a few hours. He then later appeared in the same clothes at the afterparty, which was near the theater, for about 10 minutes. His car was waiting outside for him. Word has it that he ended up staying a little longer because he was waiting for Martin Landau to arrive. Martin stayed and watched the entire movie. Then he left.

The paparazzi hounds were outside. They must have gotten a tip as to where the afterparty was and waited there instead of the premiere area, as not many of them were seen in the fan area.

The gift baskets from the party were very nice Wonka buckets filled with goodies, plus a big purple Wonka bag filled with t-shirts and stuff.... It was mainly for the kids as was the party set up.

then this as an answer to a question about Vanessa :

7/11/05 at 04:39 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've asked about Van and was told that they are sure she left with Johnny, that she was already in the car when Johnny was being taken to his car.

Goodies usually go to people at the afterparty and sometimes the premiere as well.

Then this:

7/12/05 at 02:14 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've learned a bit more about this, when Johnny got out of his car none of the entertainment shows could see him as the press photographers got to him first. He went one way, Van went the other, so that by the time he got to the show staging area, he was solo. They probably assumed she stayed home since she was not right there with him.

Everything happens so fast at these things... I am sure the shows did not mean to get the report wrong. They want to get it right. Johnny was not there very long so it was an easy mistake for them to make. It was crazy there!!

And Gina added this:

7/12/05 at 02:26 PM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sticking my nose in if you don't mind...the Charlie premiere looks like it was set up the same way as the one I went too. Which means the press photogs are staged on the sidewalk right where the celebs are dropped off, then the tv shows line up at the entrance to the Grauman's courtyard where there is more room to accomodate the large cameras and necessary techie people.

From the reports I've seen, Johnny went to the crowd immediately (crossed the street in front of the press photogs) after helping Vanessa out of the SUV (there is one pic of her smiling away from the camera and from the angle, I'd say she's probably watching Johnny with the fans). She probably walked the press line soon after Johnny left not knowing how long he would be across the street.
