Johnny Depp recently visited Florida where he paid a visit to The Casa Collection store. Johnny picked up this wall hanging, which retail for $800, for his daughter with Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose, who is 7 1/2. The family, who also consists of son, Jack, 4, split their time between France and the US.

Anne thank you for finding this----I can imagine Johnny just having to get that hanging, it's beautiful!
:artist Here's a link to their site-----beautiful stuff! I wonder if Johnny had that custom made or it was already like this. If you go to the link, they have several wall hangings with the name "Jack" on them, however, the one above is gorgeous! What a great dad!

It's adorable but what exactly is it about this particular item that causes it to be worth so much more than the items shown on the web page?
It's not obvious to me by looking at it.

That's what I was wondering, leading me to think he may have had it custom made--------either his design or one of their artists.
Or, look at this one priced at $1300---the description says it's handpainted and I didn't notice the other less expensive ones saying they were handpainted.

I am guessing it may have something to do with the crystals.
Take a look at the details on this one, it is the same price.

Yep Anne, you're right----the description says this is the one that Johnny bought, so the crystals would definitely add to the cost.

Anything hand painted and customized is going to be costly simply because of the time factor! It sure is sweet. I was trying to figure out how to do something similiar for my friends' new baby girl. I don't think I am that talented. Bet it could be done with a lot of time and stencils. Both of which I lack....lolol
Ellen - February 10, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
I bet it makes her feel like a princess.
deppfan4ever - February 11, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
That is the one reason it cost the price it did. The time and care that the artist put into it. It's not so much the materials that the item is made with that determines the price but the time and care that the artist took to make it. Then of course if Johnny had it specially made from his own desig that would add to the price. But it's the thought that really counts and Lily-Rose is very lucky to have such a wonderful papa.

Great find Anne. This is absolutely lovely.
ReadinDeppth - February 11, 2007 02:31 PM (GMT)
Oh, how cute. It's probably the roses that kick the price up as well. If they are handmade, they would be quite something to make. I wonder about the beading too. I do a lot of craft work and it doesn't look that elaborate (sans the roses).
Hmmm, it makes me think I'm in the wrong business.
I think it's great he bought it for her. Very sweet.

What a precious gift! That was very sweet and thoughtful of Johnny to buy that for Lily-Rose.

Seems Jack wasn't ignored.....here's a t-shirt he wears! :)

That's cute, too------looks like Johnny may be a regular customer!
Karen - February 12, 2007 01:32 AM (GMT)
He sure does. I can't help but think there's a "connection" there somewhere, this is his old "stomping" ground and he was just in the area.
Edit...OK mystery solved. Seems the owner of the Casa Collection is in a "relationship" with Joey Malone. Visit her myspace page and view her slide show to see a pic of her "giving" the hanging to Johnny while he was in Florida.

casadebebemyspacelinkSorry, but I didn't know how to grab the pic from the slideshow, it's at the very end of the loop but there is a navagational bar to the side.

I found the picture earlier, Karen. It's on her myspace site. You have to be signed on to myspace.com to get it. I enhanced it a bit with photoshop as the original was overexposed.

LOL Yes, the weather has been all over the map here in Florida. Earlier today it was 77, but by the end of the week, we will have temperatures again in the 30s.
Thanks for sharing the pic!

I'm new to this forum, so I'm a little hesitant to post my reaction/thoughts to this topic. I've been browsing; enjoying the posts - seems like a friendly and respectful community; please know that I post this in that same spirit. It's just that when it comes to any matter concerning the subject of our children, I am passionate.
When I first read this and visited the site, I got a little... well, queazy. To indulge our children in - what is to my mind - such extravagant trappings just makes me a bit sad. Very pretty, to be sure; much fine work and craftmanship went into the making of these products. But I couldn't help but think of how the children with whom I've worked, and the children I've raised would have been just as happy if given a big, empty cardboard box, mom's old prom gown, dad's old football jersey, or a box of chalk and a wide stretch of sidewalk. Even better to take the cardboard box and help them create a lemonade stand or their very own castle; to plan a special indoor picnic wearing mom's old clothes; or to get down on your hands and knees and cover yourself in multicolor dust creating art in the driveway. In other words; the giving of yourself and precious time. It's just my humble opinion that in our love, and in this society feverishly working to make ends meet, we are giving too much of the material things to our children; things that will either eventually get eaten by moths in the attic or quickly forgotten. And I strongly feel that when we rely too heavily on the gift of material things - especially the extravagant - we allow our children's capacity to enjoy and appreciate all the intangible treasures of life to atrophy.
I have to confess, that when I read on further to discover that this gift was "given" to Mr. Depp, I felt a bit less "queazy." I've perceived him as a person who would accept gracefully and with appreciation for the intent. But I have also perceived him as someone who understands the delicate vulnerability of our children and how the pomp and circumstance of material trappings have nothing to do with good and loving parenting.
Sorry I've gone on, or if anyone might be offended by this post. This just happened to hit a vein; it's a subject about which I'm passionate. I have a true story about a little girl in one of my programs that would serve as example, but I'll stop here.
